My brother's 1957 Karmann Ghia which was previously thought to be a 1958 until its
VIN (1-759-839) was checked in the Karmann site. About 14,715 coupe models were produced in 1957. Bought a year or less after my '61 Beetle. It almost has all the original trimming. The previous owner modified the following : he used type 3 rear bumpers, type 3 rear tail lamps, chevy sideview mirror, type 3 rear view mirror, chrome 14 inch rims, and a 1600 engine. It ran very good. It was also lowered that you can't even put a coke can underneath it may it be standing or sideways. The fastest that it ran was a 120kph and it didn't even rattle or shake. It's a very stable car unlike some newer Jap cars I have driven. |
