I believe padlock is an essential part of this simulator
I have a sidewinder 2 joystick I use one of my 2 top buttons for my padlock. this way my padlock control is at my fingertips at all times .if I get disorientated i can  hit my button and unpadlock my target hit my button again and repadlock but you must remember you have to be in visual contact of your target to padlock. I believe this is an essential tool ..it makes it harder for your target to get away from you and you really need to control your throttle. if you're view goes down looking at your cockpit floor that means your target is right underneath you need to pull back your throttle and wait for him to reappear in front of you in this picture I have just padlock my target now I start working for the kill

Hi  Fin !! here are my game settings changes i made.
First  the joy stick settings  Roll and Pitch are both
30,30,30,40,50,60,70,80,90,89 and i left the yaw @ default.
you can make both your cannon& machine guns fire @ the same time...... look for Weapon1+2 and  assign it to your trigger button on your joy stick .... Remember short Bursts..
it makes the p39 super deadly as well as the Yak3 ...but when you know that you can deffinetly hit your  target  let em have it
Ok.... now i fly with my right hand on the joystick so of course my left hand does the keyboard thing
Shift1 is a default setting that = Prop pitch 0
Shift 0 is a default setting that =Prop pitch auto

shift 1  is like down shifting from overdrive to fourth gear....
pretty much the same speed but higher rpms.. so you stay on the powerband longer and !!!! when you back off the gas
you slow down faster too
Shift 0 is Prop pitch auto...... this is what the game allways starts you off in and it will give you the best top end speed the plane will do
Next........ i have the "A" key   assign to  Prop pitch 1
I only use this  when the fight gets real slow and down low.... or some times
you find  somone in a 109 going so slow  and low to the ground you allways over shoot them in your plane because
flying in Prop pitch auto wont allow you to go that slow.
The reason i assign the "A" key is because i use my left hand for the keyboard and  shift 1 and the "A" key  are right there for the thumb and index finger
Of course if your left handed youll have to find a different key
Well theres some tips from your good bud RS_Odyssey
~S~ hope that everything is clear if not just ask me
try these out they work for me
SEE YA
got this from RS_ODYSSEY
Hello its me again how are all my friends doing?Well Bored again and decided to lay down some more of
my experience for you guys to to apply to your already great skills in flying :).
I was flying around in a game today and noticed I'm a really tough Cookie to shoot down I'm real good with
dodging hot lead from diameters of 7.62mm to 45mm flying towards me at transonic speeds :) I think I'm
getting to the point where I'm really hard to shoot down and I would like to share what I know again with
you guys again if it helps. Confusion tactics to try out. THE INVERTED ROCKER I
like to call the move its saved my Butt more then once againest up to 4 planes chasing me. again this is not
to say I'm good or anything but maybe it will help us dodge more bullets rather then be wayed down with them
:). This manuvers will take practice and there not 100% promises that bullets will always miss you but
they may help with confusion and confusion tactics save me alot from going down

THE INVERTED ROCKER  By the RS_MadProfeSsoR
*INVERTED ROCKER MANUVER*
I use this confusion tactic when I'm below 500 meters
and am I'm below 300 knots this is the only manuver I
can think of when I'm running from my oppenent the key
is to confuse the enemy. Confusion in evasion can save
you many times over and has worked well for me in the
past and still does
the move starts out with you rolling the plane
inverted. While pushing forward on the on the stick
keeping the nose of the plane right above the horizon.
After that is accomplished rock the plane back and
forth using the alerons while staying inverted. Rock
the plane back and forth you will be surprised how
much they miss you rather then hit there mark. Then
when your about to finish the manuver bank the plane
to one side while still being inverted. You know you
have them when they bank while right side up to try to
get a deflection on you  the second you feel they have
a good shot on you, and are about ready to fire  just
pull back and all of the sudden your heading the other
direction :). this is a move I use alot and hasn't
failed me yet. this manuver works in all planes so far
that I have tested.
