my family: the wind beneath my wings ;)
"I would be nothing without you...Did you ever know that you're my hero? You're everything I wish I could be. I could fly higher than an eagle, for you are the wind beneath my wings."

"As we go on, we remember, all the times we've had together. And as our lives change, come whatever, we would still be friends forever."

"I'll be at your side, there's no need to worry. Together we'll survive through the haste and hurry...If you feel like you're alone, and you've nowhere to turn I'll be at your side."

Surviving Academic "Hell Weeks" (Page 2)

During the Hell Weeks:

Learn how to prioritize. You may have a free ticket to a Barbies Cradle concert (youre a hard-core fan), courtesy of the guy youve been crushing on for so long. But youve got an exam at seven in the morning, another at one in the afternoon, plus a paper to be submitted at four oclock; and you havent gone halfway each subject. It is really tempting to say yes, but if your studies are on top of your priority, its a pass muna this time

Focus. Allocating a couple of hours utter concentration to review for an exam, work on a paper, or prepare for a report is much wiser than forcing yourself to digest the information, worrying how difficult the exam might be, and planning for your ultimate weekend getaway for a full five hours, all at the same time!

Tackle the most difficult tasks first. We are in the best shape to tackle difficult tasks first. Plus, its a safer measure in case you stayed on one task a bit too long the other works left out wouldnt require as much effort.

Monitor your time. Staying a bit too long on one task may lead to neglected subjects papers hastily done, homeworks half-done, and exams half-reviewed. It is best to plan the amount of time to be allocated for each task and subject so you wont loose your sense of time. Setting your alarm clock might even b helpful for you to stay in track.

Take a break. Schedule several short breaks throughout the day to help minimize your stress. Go for a walk, go out and enjoy the greeneries, or just lie down on the bed and do nothing for a few minutes. This way, youll be able to work more efficiently when you get back to work.

Eat healthy foods. A common mistake for college students is to pig out on junk foods, coffee and other sinful foods (those high in fat, sugar, and sodium) when loaded with schoolwork. But the truth is, these foods only make us feel bloated, and even hamper our concentration. Have a bowl of fresh foods and raw veggies (carrot sticks are a good option) instead, and dont forget to drinks lots of water.

Sleep. Yes, it is advisable for you to sleep, even if you barely have time to finish everything in hand. We process information just reviewed, even while sleeping. Ample sleep also freshens up and recharges our mind.

After the ill-fated days:

Treat yourself. Congratulations, you just survived another Hell Week (and probably, passed it with flying colors)! Go see a movie, treat yourself to a hearty dinner, and splurge on bowls of fat-fee ice cream.

You see, surviving academic hell weeks does not require any magic formula, right? Its just a matter of organizing an efficient study habit and establishing a more positive outlook on your studies.

So kiss your exhausting stress-filled and sleepless hell weeks goodbye and walk around campus looking like youre having a Finals week that is not a bit of a torture.

"I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride; so I love you because I know no other way than this: where I does not exist, nor you, so close that your hand on my chest is my hand, so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep."
(Pablo Neruda)

"I am nothing special, of this I am sure. I am a common man with common thoughts, and I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten, but I've loved another with all my heart and soul, and to me, this has always been enough."
(from The Notebook by Nicolas Sparks)

"When a person really wants something, all the Universe in the world conspires to help that person realize his dream."
