Other companies had also incorporated whitening compounds in their products to stay alive, if not flourish, in this competitive industry. In fact, nowadays, you could hardly find a skin care product that does "not" contain any trace of a whitening ingredient. Bar soaps which are experiencing a decline in revenues have been introducing new product lines with active ingredients for fairer skin. Even Procter and Gamble's Safeguard, whose patrons probably grew old with it, had already launched its own whitening papaya soap. Now the entire family can have fairer skin without losing the essential round-the-clock protection from germs and bacteria. And yes, even the "gentle-on-fabric, gentle-on-skin" Perla soaps now contains more skin whitening ingredients.
You maybe wishing to have a lighter complexion - in preparation for a special event, such as a debut party - and you want it pronto. Worry no more, for many skin whitening products would wish to take care of that. There is a wide variety of products that promise to lighten the skin the soonest possible time. Six weeks is rather common - just about the period a pimple scar might completely disappear. But that's still to be scientifically proven, of course.
The skin whitening industry in the Philippines has indeed come a long way already. But manufacturers are not just about to stop there. 2005 might be another red-letter year for this business; you better brace yourself for all the marketing strategies and "pakulo" imaginable that might prosper this year.
Expect to see more Kritine Hermosa , Kris Aquino and Claudine Barreto look-alikes to grace more whitening facial cleansers, lotion and soap products. In the same study conducted by Synergy, 50% of the respondents wished to have Kristine Hermosa's complexion. Claudine Barretto and Sharon Cuneta's complexions also ranked second and third, respectively. And maybe we might be seeing more "mestizos" as endorsers for skin whiteners, too. After all, these companies are working harder in tapping male Filipino consumers.
Foreign brands are also expected to do well, if not better, this year. These are the more expensive and more promising ones. Among them are Lancome Paris, L'Oreal, Neutrogena, VMV Hypoallergenics, Clinique, Shisheido, Unilever, Chanel, and the list goes on and on.
