| Levi Rpp: Alright, who are you and what do you do in Treason? Jonathan Fuck: I'm JONATHAN FUCK, the singer LR: Where did you come up with the name for the band and where are you from? JF: we went through a bunch of different names.....stupid shit we found in a dictionary, but none of us would agree on one name. Somebody would come up with one that only 2 people agreed with. Originally we were gunna be called the infections, that's the original name that the first guitarist came up with but the rest of us thought it was generic. So then he said how about treason...everyone thought it was a really fucking good name, so we stuck with that one. Originally the band was formed in the Bronx, but only two members are currently from the Bronx.....me and the drummer JED. LR: How long have you guys been together? JF: 4 years LR: What are some of your favorite bands, and bands you're influenced by? JF: it doesn't fuckin matter LR: Today in NYC and the surrounding areas most of the bands seem to be rather street punk related, Treason in my opinion is doing their own(and good) thing, have you faced hardships as a result of this? JF: yeah it seems as though that from the beginning very few people wanted to help us cuz we were different from them. the only reason we got where we are is from me setting up shows myself, booking them myself, making cd's and selling them myself. we've got as far as we have without the help of labels, or anyone else but ourselves. the only people who have ever helped us have done so cuz they thought they were gunna get something in return. so i'd like to say that you all suck and the majority of you are all full of shit. but to all the bands out there who are struggling you gotta remember to do everything yourself cuz no one else is gonna help you, especially if you have something to say and you don't sound trendy or generic enough. LR: Now i've heard of some of your live shows turning into riots, fighting with cops, and all out anarchy. Do you have any good stories about this? JF: one time we played this free show in a park in queens. we made the front cover of the local paper...it said "PUNKERS HIT COPS". the way it started was the cops were looking for an excuse to shut down the show, well right before we were gonna play a fight broke out and the cops saw it as a perfect excuse to shut the show down. my friend lived right down the block from the park his nickname was "the annoying bitch". the annoying bitch is a 7 ft. tall psycho who walks around in a dress with ace ventura style bi hawks and starts fights with guidos by calling them faggots.well anyway since he lived right down the block we all decided to hang out in front of his house. so we had about over 50 punks hanging out on the sidewalk. a few cops came and told us to leave i then told the cops that they better fucken leave. the annoying bitch told them to get the fuck off his property and they didnt like this very much. the cops said that the sidewalk was city property. so i commanded everyone to get off the sidewalk on to the lawn.so everybody was lined up side by side on the lawn but there was a few people off to the side. the annoying bitch started inciting the whole thing even more by yelling at the cops that "if i see any fucken pigs on my property im gonna shoot them" so the cops tried to pull him off the lawn but we pulled him back. everyone started to shove the cops. i started screaming at the cops"get the fuck outta here you fucken pigs, this isnt your property, this is our land fuck off you filthy fucken pigs!"they then started pulling out their knife sticks. by this time everyone was going crazy screaming obscenities at the cops and throwing shit at them. until it turned into an all out riot.now the cops tried multiple times to pull people off the lawn but everytime they did we just pulled them back cuz we were all side by side and outnumbered them. i saw cops getting hit and shoved left and right. they were trying to intimidate us into submission but instead we were so angry that they were actually scared of us you also have to remember that we were in the right especially cuz we werent doing anything illegal, and we were just hanging out in front of our friends house.i started seeing people get dragged in to the street but altogether they only arrested 3 people and all 3 of them were kind of off to the side where they werent protected by the rest of us.they tried to arrest the annoying bitch but he simply went in to his house where they tried to break the door down. he threatened to kill more cops since they were trying to come into his house and he then locked his door and escaped through the back. thats when things really started breaking up.when i saw everything breaking up i started hiding behind things and tossing bricks at the cop cars. they had no idea where it was coming from.after everything pretty much cleared up i went back to the scene and told the cops to release the people they arrested. 4 big cops got in my face and one of them said"get the hell outta here you purple haired weirdo, or i'll put you 6 ft. under",. I was outnumbered and they were ready to beat me and arrest me so i just broke the fuck out..... Thats about the best story i have , about half of our shows have been broken up by the n.y.p.d. (new york pig dickheads) |
