::SO WHAT DO YOU WANT TO BE ????

Hello Friend,

You are at an important junction in your life. At every point in your professional career there will be people evaluating you, and if you don't measure up, you're history. So how do you acquire those special skills that are to be taught only at MBA SCHOOLS?

This is where ROTARACT steps in.

Rotaract is an International program for young men and women aged between 18 to 30 who believe they can make a difference. Rotaract clubs provide an opportunity for young adults to enhance their knowledge and skills that will assist them in personal development, to address the physical and social needs of their communities and to promote better relations between all people worldwide through a framework of friendship and service.

You might say "Rotaract! Social work! Sorry not interested!" Just read along and you'll be sorry if you're not interested. Just like a diamond, Rotaract is multifaceted, i.e. has various branches or avenues, as we know them.

# A Brief Look at Rotaract:

Rotary International, a worldwide association of service-minded Business and Professional leaders, founded Rotaract in 1968. Today (as of 1 July 2004), there are over 7,663 Rotaract clubs with approx. 1,76,249 (est.) members in 465 Rotary Districts with 8,658 sponsor Rotary clubs, spread over 159 Countries around the world. Clubs are either community based, or they are an extracurricular activity on college/university campuses.

# ROTARACT ACTIVITIES :-

::Community Services:.. Yes! Another name for social service. Any project catering to the community comes under this avenue. Rotaract clubs carry out at least one Community Service project each year in an effort to improve the lives of the people around them. The possibilities for worthwhile projects are endless. Rotaractors not only have great ideas about how to help the needy, but make these ideas work. Many Rotaract service projects focus on current issues of importance to young adults every where.

::Club Services:.. Keep everyone happy! Maintain the morale in your club. Parties! Picnics! Make friends! Get to know each other. A first hand experience in human resource development. Rotaractors work hard, but they believe in having a good time. They hold barbecues, car rallies, camping trips, intra club visits, dances, cultural festivals, special lectures, sporting events, and many more. Sometimes these activities are designed to raise money for a club service project. Whatever they do, Rotaractors know how to have fun, make friends and make the world a little better place in the process.

::Professional Services:.. Ever faced an audience that expects you to speak and you don't seem to find the next word? One of the prime objectives of Rotaract is to enhance the professional skills of its members. Learn, not only to speak in front of crowds but also to actually command them. Early career decisions are critical ones. Rotaract clubs help their members make informed choices through marketing and management seminars, conferences on business ethics, vocational counseling, career planning programs and business technology updates. Business and professional support from successful Rotarians help make these programs especially valuable.

::International Services:.. Rotaract is an international organization spread out in 146 countries all over the world. Keep in touch with fellow rotaractors in the US, Great Britain, Australia and others. Care to jump over for a visit??!!! Because Rotaractors want to learn more about other cultures and do their part to promote international goodwill and understanding, they undertake at least one International Service project each year. Rotaractors raise money from International Disaster relief programs, make exchange visits with Rotaractors in other countries and host similar visits from other Rotaract Clubs, and volunteer their professional skills in International development and assistance projects.

In addition to these four pillars this institution called "Rotaract" has four support functions.

::PRO:.. Public Relations Officer. "How to win friends and influence people", personified. Give your club a good public image. Later, in your professional life, do the same for the businesses that you own.

::RRD:.. Rotaract Resource Development. Rotaract call for Human Resource Development. Get the best out of your members. Do the same with your employees later.

::Cyber space:.. Rotaract on the web. An online guide to Rotaraction.

Editor:.. Handle the Clubs 'VOICES'. Voices is our club bulletin.

There is no CRASH COURSE to personality development and there are no SHORT CUTS to success. So if you are a "lambi race ka ghoda" or if you want to be one then....

# Rotaract at the Club, District and International Levels :-

Most Rotaract activities take place at the club level. Rotaract clubs hold formal meetings, usually every two weeks, which feature speakers, special outings, social activities, discussions or visits to other clubs. Club members also get together for service projects, social events or professional. Leadership development workshops.

Every Rotaract club is a part of a District Rotaract Organization, run by elected representatives with support from sponsoring Rotarians. The District Rotaract Organization plans regional Conferences, develops regional projects, and holds leadership training programs and work to strengthen the bond among clubs in the district.

Rotaract functions at the International Level through a committee comprised of Rotaractors and Rotarians. This committee works with Rotary International Convention. This event offers Rotaractors from all over the world the chance to meet, discuss on mutual interest and develop friendship based on International goodwill and understanding.
