The consept of Water Keeper comes from "Flame Keeper" via the Brigidine Catholic order in Kildare, Ireland.  There ninteen nuns tend Brigid's sacred flame: one nun each 24 hour period.  The 20th shift Brigid Herself tends the flame.  These women are called Flame Keepers.

I was a Flame Keeper for Brigid with the
Ladies of the Flame.  It is a Neo-Pagan on-line group that tends the flame of Brigid.  It is open to women only.  I am no longer active in tending the actual flame, but I help keep the site updated and the Ladies informed of anything new about Brigid.
