The Mystery
This set of three rituals is based on Ursula Goodenough's the "locus of Mystery" as listed in her book The Sacred Depths of Nature. Those three "locus of Mystery are:
* The Mystery of why there is anything at all, rather than nothing.

*The Mystery of where the laws of physics came from.

*The Mystery of why the universe seems so strange.

I fell away from Wicca because I could not relate to it's rituals.  For one, I could not connect to the Esbats - moon rituals.  I mean, what do the moons cycles *really* have to do with *me*? I couldn't find meaning in the "Maiden, Mother, Crone" symbolism because there are so many other stages in a woman's life beyond just those three.  Nor could I connect the moon's cycles with my own menstrual cycle because my cycle was un-cyclicic: it came around when it felt like it and not before, sometimes leaving me with out a period for three and four months at a time.  It came down to the fact that none of the symbolism or rituals felt natural to me; there was no meaning, no connection between me and the meaning of Luna.

I have sense found great spirituality in the Body of Nature and in Her processes.  The first book to put this understanding into words for me was
Earth Path by Starhawk.  I find my connection to the Mystery when I experience the process of how Life was created from a bunch of lifeless atoms stuck together in the form of chemicals.  I find myself wondering, "why is there anything at all, rather than nothing" and then wondering what kind of mysterious unknown was the catalyst to it all.  I mean, WHY did those first strands of RNA decide to replicate themselves; and better yet, HOW did they figure out how to do it?  Why did a particular chemical combination within RNA bring about replication, and therefore life?

When I ponder this Great Mystery I am awstruck and confounded and humbled at once: a very religious/spiritual experience if you ask me.
