Sideshow banners and stories
The Sideshow Banner series is an illustrative narrative contained within a unique world that no longer exists except in a few lingering echoes at Coney Island. It was a nomadic culture of outsiders who made their “nut” from the mixed reaction of revulsion and attraction of the town folk. The characters and stories expressed in these paintings are original fiction, based on that world. As you will see, the stories are not merely implied in the work, but are painted in full on some of the banners.
