The Power Wagon
< ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
The idea of the Power Wagon began at a spring OTL pickup game at South Mission. The next week I began making sketches of what the cart might look like, and how the accessories would fit on the wagon.

The first version of the wagon was built on the popular Lowe's garden cart. The small size made the cart manurverable, but flexed when loaded with any kind of weight. This became a problem because the cheap frame would bend, creating slack in the drive chains. This would cause them to de-rail. The BBQ worked out great. It has a 2.5 gallon propane tank in the cabinet below. 2 folding shelves can also be raised for additional counter space.

In this picture you can clearly see the 2 350watt drive motors. They work well when the wagon gets up to speed, but have little torque to help at low speeds. I also didn't like the batteries on top of the wagon deck. However, there was no room to put them below. This made the wagon somewhat top heavy when loaded with the BBQ and the cooler.

This is version 1.0 at the beach. The BBq is detached from the cart. The batteries are under the yellow cover.
350 Watt Motors
View of the 2 X 350 watt motors. Each motor drives it's own tire. Discovered this was bad for turning.
