BLOWING ROCK, NC.

On their way to Blowing Rock, NC, Mike and V visited Stonewall Jackson's House in Lexington, VA.

Thomas Jonathan Jackson is known to the world as "Stonewall" Jackson, the Confederate general who earned his nickname for his stand at First Manassas. He is best known for his brilliant leadership in the Valley Campaign of 1862. The Stonewall Jackson House is the only home that Thomas Jackson ever owned. It's a modest brick townhouse, built in 1901, with a mid-centure stone addition at the back.

V admires the garden at the Stonewall Jackson House.

Jackson's tastes were simple, but he liked to have everything in perfect order.

As he expressed it; 'a place for everything, and everything in its place.'"

Continuing on through Virginia's Shenandoah Valley, V and Mike stop at Wade's Mill.

Wade's Mill (c1750) is a working water powered flour mill listed on the National Registar of Historic Places.

Flours at the mill are stone-ground to ensure nutrition and flavor are always fresh.

While V checks out the flours , Mike checks out the flowers .

After leaving Wade's Mill, V and Mike journey on to Raphine, Virginia (between Lexington and Staunton),

the home of the Buffalo Springs Herb Farm. Move to the next page and see the 18th Century farmstead,

with its big red barn and its herb gardens.
