XIV Temperance Temperance is a two-edged sword, either you as the Querant need to be more temperate and more relaxed and cautious in this event or you need to throw caution to the wind, toss off your complacency and charge in.
The question is which should you do? This quandary on this card is shown as the choice between the three smaller jugs or the one large jug. On one hand moving the three will take longer and is a more cautious and measured way to approach the situation or do you grab the big jug and risk everything? If you drop one of the small jugs you still have two left, if you drop the large jug then all is lost. The question comes down to how much patience you are willing to employ, how certain you are of you capabilities and how much time and effort you are willing to employ. All of this depends on if the situation has not started, is starting or is reaching a conclusion, as from the position of the Sun in the sky we cannot tell if it is dawn, dusk or midday. Whatever the question is or whatever answer is sought, you do in your heart of hearts know what both the question and answer are and you know what you have to do.
Either, you need to get motivated or you need to slow down, you shouldnt listen to the advice of others because you and only you know what is the best for you at this time.
Dignified: The card is encouraging you to take action, take the full jug. It is the dawn of a new day. So face the future with strength energy and vitality. Dive in, take a chance and embrace the dawn. The time has come for decisive action and that time is now.
Reversed: This card urges caution and that you take the safe course. Contemplate your actions and the results of those actions on yourself and those around you. Have you thought this course of this action through? The sun is setting and the day is over, sleep on the matter and then face the issue tomorrow. Now is not the time to start something new.
XV Devil As with the Death card there is much confusion surround the Devil card. The Devil is not evil, the Devil is not anti-religious, anti-peace, and like the Death card it is nothing to be feared. The Devil is the symbol of responsibility and maturity. You are an adult, you know better than to do anything that is destructive, damaging or wrong. You should understand the consequences of your actions. You should be aware that for every action there is a reaction and everything you do has a outcome and before doing it you have a good idea if you will reap the rewards or success or the repercussions of failure. If you feel secure enough about yourself then do it, if you doubt yourself than dont. You and only you will be held responsible for whatever you do.
If you were twelve years old and hiding with your friends smoking, you know you are risking getting caught, or if you are 15 and drinking you know that is illegal and has risks. Now as an adult if you are willing to risk things be aware of the results and be aware that you are in control of your destiny.
On this card there is a couple who are naked, are looking behind the tower at something that is tempting them. Their nakedness signifies openness, willingness, understanding and a vulnerability as well as honesty and trust, and they know it is their choice if they are to go any further. The central figure is a person who did walk into their own temptations and desires and has become caught in a web of their own making. This shows the risks if you take chance when you are hesitant or have fear. The silver guardian Amons offer protection to you and your choice, standing behind them you can walk out past them if you choose to leave, again you have the choice because all your choices are ultimately yours. A female face, the face of the Devil Herself watches over you appearing to some as a loving mother and to other as a harsh mistress. The greater you play the game the more you risk the greater the results will be, be those results the rewards of success or the repercussions of failure. The only thing that is known is only you are responsible for either out come. If you feel confident, go for it, if you have doubts, dont
Dignified: The Devil card offers you promises of success, but those successes will not be simple given to you, they will require that you have faith and trust in yourself and that you are willing to see the journey through. The greater you apply yourself the greater the risks and therefore the greater the rewards, only you know if you have the mettle to see yourself through. Dignified this card says; YES, take the chance and find out what lies beyond and what you are fully capable of. But remember if you fail, you cannot blame anyone else and if you succeed all the glory and rewards are yours.
Reversed: Look around you and look into your heart, look at the choices you made and what has happened as a result. Look at the good and the bad. You know what is required of you to move on, you know where you want to be in one, five or ten years. You know that you have to motivate yourself but know is the time to get the past and the present in order. You have let things slide too long and now you have to make amends for the past and forgive others and yourself. Most importantly you have to accept your role in things. Establish your strengths and recognize your failing. In the former dont be afraid to be proud and with the latter, quit passing blame and grow up and accept your responsibilities.
XVI Tower The Tower is upheaval and cataclysm, though not a material way. The Tower is a mental block that surrounds you and is limiting your potential and your growth. This tower is abandon and behind it is a large wall of flame. Outside the tower is a lush green tree, which is the promise of thing to come. All of this is framed by an arch and a stone fence all you need do is walk out of the tower, where you can rest in the shade of the tree and then walk into the future. One question is who built the tower? Yet, the more important question is why are you in it?
You need to break free from whatever it is that is hindering you at this time and now is the time.
Dignified: The Tower is of your own creation. You have built up walls around you for protection or for strength or out of fear and doubt. These walls do protect you from whatever it is you have chosen to avoid or are even running from. These are your walls to overcome it is time for you to walk out into the day. If you need to emerge gradually can go from the tower to the courtyard, them the first gate to the tree and then to the arch in the foreground. You can choose the time and the pace, with which you leave the tower and you must leave. As you leave you must leave your fears, doubts and insecurities behind. It is better that you leave by your own efforts than bring tossed out into the world unprepared. Take control of your fate and your destiny and step beyond your limitations.
Reversed: In the dignified position, it is you who built this tower around yourself, reversed you are held prison by someone elses will or by someone elses desires. The tower is unguarded and now it the time for you to leave a bad situation and face a better future. It is the time for you to break the bonds or limitations that others have place on you. They doubted you and those seeds of their doubts now hold you back. Prove them wrong by showing your independence and breaking free. You have all the strength you need to rise above the limits they have placed on you, if you choose to do so. |
