The Roseau Seventh-Day Primary School was born on a fateful Sabbath afternoon after an educational A.Y. program. The then leader, Brother Devos Alexander, said words to this effect, "Since we know that our children should not be in public schools because of the bad influences, it is our duty therefore to do something now." A committee was immediately formed. Discussions and plans followed and on 13 September 1976, the Roseay Seventh-Day Adventist Primary School came into existence.
The school opened its doors to sixty-five (65) students - 32 boys and 33 girls - and two teachers - Mr. Mozart Serrant as principal and Ms. Jeanevette Joseph. The school occupied the downstairs of the church building. Pastor George King was Pastor.
Over the years many changes have taken place. We have had two other principals - Mrs. Enid Serrant and Mrs. Helena Warrington. The staff grew from two to eight as enrolment fluctuated.
We have big plans for the school some of which we have begun to work on. Our biggest dream is relocation. Let us pray that as we dream, God will take it and make it a reality. |
