Act II, scene 2
Enter a ghost, a lady, in a bonnet, with a pair of tennis-shoes tied together strung over her shoulder. Otherwise she is naked. She is carrying a bouquet of hyacinths, preferably held together by fairly cylindrical white paper. Ghost extends flowers. Flowers burn up and fall to the stage like the ash off a cigarette. Exit ghost. Sound of scuffle from the wings. Loud scream. Enter a man in a bowler, carrying a rifle over his shoulder in relaxed fashion, like an umbrella. Otherwise he is naked. Curtain fall. Gunshot. Recorded applause.)
