A Day Off
by Rose Aislin.
Summary: Vader finds one of Luke's datapads - which contains a list - '10 Reasons I Cannot, Possibly, Ever, be Related to My Father'.
Rating: PG / T (probably more of a G, really, but considering it deals with Star Wars, which is itself rated at least a PG....)
Warning/s: none
Disclaimer: Star Wars, it's characters and plotline belongs to George Lucas, and I'm pretty sure whoever else helped make the films may have some claim as well. I don't.
This fic is written entirely for entertainment purposes. No money has, is, or will be gained from this fic.
Kitt's Force Bond Series inspired this ficlet.
A/N: this ficlet is set in what I've started to call my 'kid luke universe' (all the other names I came up with were too long, like the 'young luke lives with vader universe'). Luke is living with Vader.
A Day Off

Luke sighed, throwing his datapad down onto his bed. 'Who really needs to know about Galatic History, anyway?' he wondered, leaning back on his bed with a sigh. The scattered datapads around him a testament to the fact that he had been banished to his room in order to study.
'If I could just...' he wondered, rolling over and slowly, carefully, stretching towards the edge of the bed. Inching himself forward so that he could dangle his upper body over the edge, reaching towards the darkness underneath.
Luke!
Groaning, Luke flopped back up onto his bed, one arm coming to rest over his eyes.
I thought I told you to study? the voice continued.
Grumbling slightly to himself in huttese, Luke picked up his datapad once more.
I do speak huttese, Son. Vader rumbled once more in his mind. Luke sighed, rolling his eyes slightly. Now get back to work, his father commanded.
Luke scowled. Normally, Vader was too busy to take much notice of exactly what he was doing throughout his days. So long as Luke kept out of danger and didn't cause too much trouble, Vader was comfortable with turning his thoughts elsewhere and completing the various tasks which the Emperor gave him.
But today, the day that Luke had argued and begged and pleading and whined (at which point Vader had given him a very disproving glare and tilt of his helmet, saying something about it not being proper) for the day that his father actually had some time off and what happened?
Vader ordered Luke to complete his studies first. Before they could do anything else! Worse, all of Vader's attention seemed to be focused on Luke right now meaning that he couldn't get away with anything.
His father wasn't even in the room with him but somehow he just seemed to know what Luke was doing anyway.
It simply wasn't fair.
Luke, Vader's voice warned in his mind once more.
Yeah, yeah, I'm studying, Luke sent back, trying to force a mental picture of himself scowling along with it. 'So much for wanting Father to have a day off,' he thought grumpily.

A/N: While I have all the other ficlets in this 'universe' that I've written kind of fitting together in that I'm trying to not make them contradict each other this one is slightly different to what I was planning for that 'universe' and so may in the the future be contradicted against and I may have just confused anyone.
Suffice it to say that, while the idea of Vader being able to tell exactly what Luke is doing fit for this ficlet, it may not hold true for future ficlets.
(also this idea may, now that I think of it, have been influenced by a Stargate fic I was skimming through earlier today not sure who wrote it, as I saw parts of it from a list I'm on I tend to not really read Stargate fanfic anymore which had Jack and his clone being telepathic and able to 'see' what each other or others, were doing).
