Winter season in Hokkaido is very long. It takes for about 6 months.
Normally winter start from early November and continue untill the end of April.
During winter most of Hokkaido are covering by very thick snow, and temperature is vary from 0 to -20C, there is quite different from place to place within Hokkaido.
Winter time, Hokkaido is best place for skiing. You will find many different types skiing ground in Hokkaido, as for beginner or advance. Olympic standard ski ground also available in Sapporo. After skiing you can enjoy natural hot spa or well known as "Onzen".
If you are afraid of jumping ski, than you may try walking or cross country ski or we called "Aruku ski". Other type of winter activities are mobil ski and fishing in a frozen lake.
During winter in most of cities in Hokkaido always organizing "Snow Festival", either local or international, where you can find many different style of art they made from snow or ice. "Sapporo Snow Festival" which is normally held in Early February is the most famous one.
