The WPG was
publicizing that they were readying candidates to
run for high office anywhere in the world to help the
cause, if needed,
and were mentioning Sundance for President of the USA,
along with
Annette for Vice President, advocating a write-in campaign
if
necessary. In Russia it would be Solzhenitsyn and Gorby.
There was
a lot going on. And Kit was advising everyone to "plan
for the worst
and hope for the best."
Jess's guitar
was brought to the mansion from Hua's house at
Kit's request. She started playing when it arrived and
that evolved into
a concert out on the mansion's steps. Sage was given
access to a set
of drums, and Flece and Jasmine joined in with a whole
orchestra of
musicians backing up Jess. Kit couldn't play with his
bad left arm, but
he could sure enjoy it. And it went out over satellite.
Jess was playing
a lot of new songs, using much of her old, unused music,
and some of
Kit's, with new lyrics. It was priceless and recorded
(the CD awfully
hard to find lately, we hear). And Jess was feeling like
they were going
to win, the sword of Damocles maybe held
up by her own golden hair,
plus Swan's, Flee's and the rest. But Jessy just sang
her young heart
out to the world and became her very own star
that morning.
Lion and Swan
soon made their "vaya con Dioses" to the guys,
saying they were on their way to Moscow and Washington
and maybe
the Valley of the Gods. They gave Jess their words, touches
and
kisses while she paused between songs, and she had tears
of joy,
sadness, and emotions she did not even know, with their
leaving - a
walk back inside the mansion, then disappearance.
Meanwhile,
Arnold's team was wisking a still-tripping Jao out of
his former bedroom to a point of further destination,
his share of the
millions going into the Chinese Children's Fund as they
proceeded.
Jess had already given the jewels that she had offered
him to Jasmine,
Sage and Hon Ni. Swan and Lion had just smiled and happily
declined when Jess had offered the most dazzling ones,
still in Pute's
pack, to them.
Well, the
guys decided that they wanted to go on to Moscow
themselves, as they conferred between songs. So Kit commed
for the
Lear, which was not far away at all, just over in Hohhot,
and Jess
went on with her last songs. The last of the agents'
Cheyennes had
been grounded in Vladivostok, Pute reported some more
good news.
Bill's team had finally caught up with the suits.
Hua came to
say goodby for then, having meetings to attend. He
thanked the guys deeply for all that they had done and
felt that he
would probably see them not too distantly in the future,
and they
hugged and kissed and all as he asked them to thank LE
and Swan for
him, which they would, of course, assuming they would
see the spirits
again. And he reiterated his hopes that they could all
get Moscow and
Washington to go along with the WPG.
And Jess cheered,
"we'll all see each other in Paris on Friday!"
to close it out, hoping upon hope.
She finished
her last song, the music continuing on after her
departure, Sage and Jasmine among those staying, Jess
giving tearful
"ciaos" as she left the "stage" and all the way
to their car. Then the
guys were off for the airport, the Lear on the way. They
listened in
the car to the radio coverage of the concert from the
mansion, along
with Vonda Shepard and Shania Twain from Monument and
Carol
King and Lisa Loeb from Washington. And Jess was surprised
that
her concert had been broadcast over the WPG Network.
"Maundy
Monday", they named that day.
Gena and Will
were already there getting the jet refueled when
our three arrived at the aerodrome. The reunion was joyous.
Gen and
Will told them how impressed they had been with the North
Air guys,
besides Jess's concert and O, the "Beijing thing". The
guys thanked
their pilots profusely for sticking their necks out again,
while telling
them about the Cheyennes and Bill. And what a plane,
Jess cheered
as she took the left seat, so thankful that it just kept
going, kissing the
yoke.
She and Flece
flew them to Omsk, in central Russia. Kit slept on
the way, still healing, Gena keeping an eye on him, Will
his on the
flyers as they told their pards the whole Beijing story.
The girls were
winding down, though, so asked Gen and Will if they would
take the
Moscow leg, and nestled in next to Cody on the couch.
Boris accepted
them without hesitation into his office when they
arrived at the Kremlin, Jessy's legend preceding her
presence. He was
on the phone with Hua and Bill as they came in, and both
leaders
wanted to say "hi" and such to her when they heard that
she was
there. It was like some big happy family, Jess felt,
as she took the
phone to hear from her friends.
Borey was
a darn cool pard himself, they relate. He was
offering them some Tree Frog or Smirnoff, sandwiches,
caviar or
whatever as he smiled upon Jess, whom he knew was hearing
the
absolute epiphanal news from Bill and Hua: the
three big leaders had
agreed upon going to Paris on Friday and signing for
their countries!
They had just been going through details at that point,
ready to hand
it all over to the stars of the WPG!
She screamed
and jumped up and down and peed a few drops
into her jeans, she admits, and kissed Boris as she ecstatically
thanked
Bill and Hua. Flee and Kit figured something
awfully good had
happened, and started assuming that it could be the news
that they
were hoping for. Jess gave the phone back to Borey and
told the guys
and they went wild with her, all of them yelling "YES!"
more than a
few times, the girls jumping up and down amid the hugs
and kisses.
Boris laughed along with the President and Chairman over
the phone.
LE and Swan
had already been there in the Kremlin and had
moved on to the White House, Bor related to the guys,
after getting
off the phone, what had tracked there in his office and
the White
House earlier that day. And, well, dam, it was
time for celebrating.
The news just kept sinking in. Our three held each other
in pure bliss,
sharing at least a cupfull of tears.
Boris and
his advisors understood what the guys were going
through: "your issue has won, da?" he smiled,
"and changching
history!" as he filled up some glasses with champagne
for a toast. "I
have done some of that myself," he added, and gave them
his best
anecdotal short story of the end of the USSR. The girls
hugged him
again. "And you are 'Deepheart', da?" he asked
Jess.
"Oh!..." she
responded, "gee, sir...I don't know....I don't know
who that refers to...do you, guys?" passing
it to Kit.
"I've heard
about 'm, sir...but sure don't know who it is," Code
tried his best.
"Well, no
matter...you've done 'soopr-r-eme' jzob! And I have
never seen more 'bee-yood-ee-fule' young
women doing something as
brave as you two! Anything you need, please, just let
us know. We
are very happy with this WPG. It will save us extremely
many
Roubles...and take a long headache off our heads,"
hugging the girls
some more.
"Yes! Yes
sir! Thank you, sir!" Jess smiled back at the big man,
barely believing where they were, what they were hearing
and
everything else. Then she and Kit realized that their
work was done
there, and they surely did not want to wear out their
welcome, but
Jess was already thinking about all the war zones that
still needed help.
"God bless you, sir," she added, "well...we should be
going...."
"So soon?"
the President of Russia frowned.
"Uh, well,
we don't want to take up your time," Jess looked at
Kit again for some help, but he smiled at her to let
her know that she
was doing fine, "...and Kit needs more rest...and
I guess we do too,
sir. But we are so...grateful...for what
you've done...I mean, the
whole world is...it's just the...greatest
thing that I've ever known of
in my short lifetime....Thank you, Mister President...thank
you, sir
...so much!..."
"O ho ho,
Jesseeca, you are very very velcome, indeed, my
young friend. And you learn it here, nyet?"
the President grinned and
put his big arms out for one more hug. "You will come
back to see
me, yes?"
"O yes sir,"
Jessy answered as she, then Flece, hugged again
with him and they all jabbered away while the guys made
their
departure. Then the guys took the chauffered ride back
to the
airport, checking in with Puter the Great on the way.
And it was all
true! Kim reported all the Execs' details
on the agreement and the
arrangements for Paris! But the problem was still the
war zones and
the holdout countries and whatever black ops and other
clandestine
organizations might be up to, plus anything else that
might happen
before Paris on Friday.
