Back in the White House, DC was still waiting in an outer office
to see the Prez or advisors. Yeah, like he was going to get anywhere.
The Oval pros who had gotten his information were after the highest
bidder, which was coming up the military industrial boys. Bill was
leaving the Mansion for a scheduled event anyway, and the advisors
were still scrambling on the WPG and other matters. But Cy and Pute
would be getting all that later.
Meanwhile, Jess had another dream from LE and Swan. They
told her that there was still more to discover off the big room in the
mine, and to come back and see them in the Valley of the Gods when
they could, it was really a party. And they wished her a happy day
after birthday. She and Kit woke up in mid afternoon and Jessy told
him she wanted to go pick in the mine, telling him about the dream.
"Jeezall..." he replied, "you think they like you or what?"
They went up to the mine, taking a radio, and picked around in
the big room a pretty good while and, right when they were agreeing
on quitting, Jess broke through the Silver into a small cavern. They
looked through the opening with the spotlight and saw maybe an acre
of geodes, quartz and crystals of all shapes and colors!
        "HOLE...lee...DIOS!..." Kit stammered.
Jess echoed the sentiment. Then they opened the hole a little
more, put the lantern inside and saw, by God, what looked like Topaz,
Sapphire, Ruby, Emerald, Diamond and gems they didn't know
WHAT to name! They looked at each other with open mouths and
teary eyes.
        "This...can't be...happening, Cody. I bet I'm still dreamin'...yeah,
I'm still dreamin'...ow!" she responded to pinching the skin on her
forearm. "God...I'm not..." and looked at him.
"I think we better get the guys," he answered. So they did, yelling
as they ran down to the cabins.
Well, all the guys were just as stunned, of course, when they got
back up there. They got the hole big enough to crawl through -
carefully - and Kit went in and gingerly moved around and inspected
everything up close, holding the lantern. Then, with their little pick,
chipped off a gem that had all the colors of the rainbow in it and
crawled back to the opening and handed it to Jess.
"Happy day after birthday, majesty," he quietly said to her with
tears of pure joy in their eyes.
"Awwwww sweeetheart...Gawwwd," she quietly answered and
cried in sheer happiness as they kissed through the hole. Everyone else
got something in their eyes too, Julian blaming the dust that Kit was
stirring up as he crawled out of the hole.
They all looked over the gem and it was not from this world, they
were saying, even though they had seen where it had come from. They
all took their turns in the cavern. Even Ria went in, chipping off a
Diamond mixed with Emerald for Julian, and others for the children. It
was, well, again, it defies description. Maria called it a "milagro", and
they all agreed.
They took their treasures down to the cabin, put them on the table
on Jul's and Ri's porch and watched the sunlight play with the insides of
the gems, reflected all around on their faces and everywhere as they sat
around the table. And listened to the concert.
Well, Gospel had kicked off the day at the Valley again. Then
Garth and Vince and the girls and boys had led the country music into
the afternoon. There had been reggae after that. And, as the guys sat
there spacing out, the Original Americans were starting the procession
of bands and stars coming back on to build the energy again for the
weekend finale. Here they all came again - Robbie Robinson doing
some with the OA Band, then U2, Smashing Pumpkins, Georgia
Satellites, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dire Straits, Blondie, Mothers of
Invention, with Dweezul and Moon Unit, Cheap Trick, Louden
Wainwright, Golden Smog, Black Sabbath, Journey, Foreigner, White
Snake, J Geils, Manfred Mann, Steve Miller, Boz Scaggs, Crash Test
Dummies, Toto, Styx, Queen, Kansas, Skynyrd band members, Leon
Russell, Lauper, Morisette, B52's, Collective Soul, Heart and
Fleetwood Mac preceding all the rest of the aforementioned panoply
plus all those I forgot. It was stupefiably inclusionary. You get the
picture, I'm sure.
Back at the hacienda: "Santo Dio...'meegs..." Julian finally
broke the spell. "It truly must be El Dorado....What a milagro..." he
looked at Ria.
"Si, mi corazon...si," Maria concurred, leaning over to hug her
husband.
"Si, 'meegs," is all Kit said, adding his hug to his partners', then
Jessica joining in.
"You have the touch of the gods...and goddesses, cowgirl," Flece
quietly said to her best friend.
"I just do what they tell me..." Jessy kind of joked, telling her
dream to the rest. And they talked on about their amazement over that,
listening to the music grow in its power as the daylight waned.
The girls called home. Ginny was asking what, exactly, were they
doing at the concert, being, O, the most exciting thing going on in the
world, by the way. Jess "kidded"  that they were doing the holograms,
then "seriously" told her that they were doing just regular backstage
stuff. And they talked a little more about the WPG announcement and
things before goodbys, Jessy reassuring her Mom that she was being
good.
Joshua called. He was at the concert and surprised that they
weren't, kind of. They told him Evan's and Stef's phone number and
told him to ride back with them, if he could, or call back if he couldn't
find them. Josh told them they were missing one hell of a happening
before their "laters".
"I just think we're the luckiest people on the whole darn planet,"
Jess said then to all of the others around the table.
"Ever?" Flee begged the question for the others as Jessy leaned
over and kissed Cody.
"Well..." Kit said, "it's ever for me..." and kissed his dream girl
back.
Then Foreigner (or are they Journey?) got some center-mike
moments at the concert and started with "I Want To Know What Love
Is". And he and Jess just held each other and rocked. So did Jul, Ri,
Juli and Flee.
Minutes later, Ria called Es at the concert, needing to share the
new discovery with her daughter, who was quietly in shock after her
shrieks, then told her about Josh looking for them.
"Hool, I want to show the girls the cup," Mari said after getting
off the phone.
"Si, bella, I'll go get it," he said right back and went for it. Maria
explained that it just belonged there on the table with the jewels, saving
the story for Jul's return.
Julian and Kit told the girls how Ri had found it in the cave when
she and the children were brought back to the men's discovery later in
the day they had made it, as Maria gently unwrapped the ragged, fragile
old cloth around it, the same one she had found it in. And she
uncovered the Gold cup, which looked like a chalice, though plain. Jess
saw the inscription carved into its side and asked if they knew what it
meant.
"Nephyleum..." Kit told her. "It means 'those who from Heaven
to Earth came'. It's ancient Hebraic...and the Greeks' root word for
'clouds'."
"Awwwe - some..." Jess and Flece both said together awefully.
Jess added, "why do you think it was in the mine?"
"Good question, love...ask the guys...next chance you get, huh?"
Kit answered, meaning the spirits, of course, as he smiled at her.
"Uh, yeah...I sure will," and she had a Mona Lisa smile for them
all, "man...this is...just..."
"Yes it is, precious...yes it is," he came back. And they all talked
on about the cup, the jewels and everything else as the sun went down
behind Mount Essy Jessy F'lecia.
Our two went back later to their cabin to check in with the
computers and went over the Corpus message, Jess wondering, "maybe
we should spice it up a little and harden 'Joan's' nipples."
"Wo, there's an idee....Well, then we'd have to give 'Al' a woody
under his shorts."
"Cool! Yeah! Edge is edge, hain't it, Hotey?" she chuckled.
        "'R' you serious?" he asked.
"Sure!" and typed in the instructions to Pute adding, "are we
bad?"
"Yeah, Mac Momma, we bad," he affirmed. And they sent that
on in to the program.
