2001
I can't believe that another year has gone by. Christmas has come and gone and we had several visits with my kids and their families as well as Ron's brother and his wife (Dave and Nancy) Ron and I are looking forward to our month in Florida starting Jan 19th. The weather in Ontario has been the worst in years, and we are really fed up with the snow and below zero temperatures. I just hope our trip down does not get delayed by inclimate weather.
We spent New Years Eve in Toronto at our friends place. (Pierre and Brian) A great timewas had by all, with lots of wining and dining. However, Ron and I cannot keep those kind of hours any more without suffering, so we were thankful to get back home on New Years day to rest up.
FLORIDA 2001
I guess we have been very lucky in all our car trips to Florida - up to now. This year we left early morning on Jan 19th. The roads were dry and the traffic was surprisingly light until we arrived at the border. The minute we crossed into Buffalo, the snow started. It gradually turned into rain for the rest of the day. We stopped the first night in West Virginia after 980 kms on the miserable roads. The next morning our car was completely covered with 1/2 inch of ice and we took over an hour to get it open with a small cafeteria plastic knife. That day was freezing rain right down to Georgia when we arrived just outside of Savanagh for the second night. The motel was filthy, cold and damp and the musty smell started my asthma acting up. The next morning we scraped off 1/4 inch of frost and went on our way. What a pleasure finally arriving back in southern Florida to start another magnificent 4 weeks at Liberty Suites with daily temperatures in the 80s.
