Tuesdays-"Build a horse" Sandbar music group inc.

Tuesdays is a band which consists of musicians from different bands Their cd is a great country-folk effort. The first song "Where oh where is John" was written during the absence of lap steel guitar player John Mullins.
Most of the songs are lead by acoustic guitar and a tight rhythm section. You can hear mandolin, lap steel, accordion and fiddle throughout the whole cd. Highlights are "Don't know why", Battle song" and "That's all right". A special note for singers Dennis Elsworth and Pat Deighon

Mick Thomas and the sure thing "Dust on my shoes"
(Croxton Records)

Mick is an Australian singer-songwriter who plays in the same league as Dan Bern and his compatriot Paul Kelly who is also a great example for him. He also calls Lucinda Williams, Steve Earle and Bob Dylan amongst his greatest influences. Highlights are "Baked Cake", "Tom Wills" and "No Picnic". There are also 5 extra bonus live tracks. www.twah.com
Michael Ubaldini "American Blood" Blackwater records

The first cd I received from Michael was "Rock & roll saloon", which was a really rockin' cd. A few weeks later the the mailman dropped another from Michael in my box called "American Blood". Michael still rocks on this cd, but this one has a more folky edge. He sounds like a poet with a hurted soul and a critical eye on our modern society. Great songwriting and singing. A must have for the fans of singer-songwriter stuff.

Deadman - "Paramour" (Lakeshore records)

This cd sounds like a soundtrack for a "movie noir". Early Cowboys Junkies come to my mind listening to "Paramour". Singer-songwriter Steven Collins called some of his musical friends to create this cd : Sherilyn Collins(vocals, keys), Britton Beisenherz, 12-string guitar), John Scully(drums) and Ben Peeler on lap steel guitar. All their songs go through your head like a nice quiet river, with no rapids on its way. Simon and Garfunkel's "America" sounds better than the original. Deadman has set the example for other alt-country bands in which direction this format should evolve.

Slowdrag - "Ploughin' it right to the fence"(Corvus)

Bluegrass front-porch sounds out of Vancouver. Craig McKerron(vocals, lead & rhythm guitar), Koralee Tonack(vocals, guitar) and Paul Bergman(bass) are the members of the band. They get brilliant support by Nick Horbuckle on piano and
John Reishman on mandolin., who also produced. It's not your everyday clean-shaven bluegrass or that fast Meat Purveyors bluegrass sound. It's somewhere in between. They mix old and present material(Bill Monroe,Louvin Brothers, Butch Hancock) with their own. Their debut is a brilliant old-time acoustic cd.
