Dave Francis

Pearson took up his position as map reader once again as we left the zoo. Our new theme tune (William Tells Overture) blared out as we flew from the zoo and we got numerous weird looks from people walking along. The tune soon ended, but our journey continued. And we decided the best route to Glendalough was to drive through Dublins city centre. I was surprised with the ease of movement through the streets and it wasn't long till we were crusing down the N11 past UCD and RTE. Ya could feel the knobiness of the surrounding area. D4 - home of the yuppie.

Thankfully, we didn't delay in that area and we were soon cruising in the open country once again. Dave had suggested a route, and even though I was wary of his 'getting us to our destination' skills, I trusted him this time. But soon I realised he was wrong, as a road sign told me to go left, and Dave's route suggested we stay heading south. I took advice of the roadsign, and I was forced to disappoint Dave. But soon he was happy again as JP found some more interesting tunes.

The road was long and windy, and very very hilly. God bless Wicklow but damn the roads are very humpy. The car was under alot of pressure carrying the CASA crew and our Dublin stones, but she coped well on her maiden journey. The view impressed all the members and time was passed with various half tunes from the massive jukebox and wannabe DJ's in the back seat.

We were soon in Glendalough and we parked the car in the provided place to park the car. We had a picture or 2 taken to prove we were in Glendalough before we strolled across some grass and into the holy spot we came to visit. In the distance we seen the massive tower that would be the location of our stone task for Wicklow. But before the task, we strolled around looking at gravestones and other ancient stuff. Pearson found the oldest with someone who died in 1759 or somethin. But that fun didn't last long and we were soon back at the tower. We waited for a short time for tourists to piss off so we could hop around the tower on one leg. I don't think everybody did it right but I don't really care.

We headed from the tower and walked along a nice path for a while. But the path bored us and after a stop on a massive stone which was kind enough to pose for pictures for us, we strolled along among the trees and then down to the lake to pick up our stones. I found a nice stone and all CASA members found a stone they liked. We continued our stroll along the path and amazingly we circled the lake. On the way back to the car, we dipped our stones in water on the Deer Stone (I dunno what it was for) and we strolled back to the visitor center. We had a quick piss, and then went for the car before taking a trip back into Laragh village for quick refreshments.

And once fed and watered, it was time to head off for a dolmon in the pointless county of Carlow.
