Rollin round thru Dub-a-lin town. Coming from the north side, headin to the south side!
Down
the N11 we went passing the pish-posh RTE studios in Donnybrook and out of
the urine-soaked hellhole that is our nations capital. We were now on our
way to some real culture in the shape of Glendalough. The AA route planner
once again let us down so we took a slightly varying route than their own,
using high-roads and by-roads as the CASA merry men made their way onward.
Arriving at what appeared to be a very packed Glendalough, (the car park was
almost full), it wasnt half as busy once we got in around the round tower.
The plan was to dance around the round tower three times like pixies; however some of the slack jawed tourists keps staring at the 4 of us so we delayed doing it for some time. We would be hard pressed not to get a stone from this once glaciated site. Eventually the tourists moved on and we danced like gimps around the magic tower. Moving along, we took some photos around some ruins of ancient churches and all that jazz. Not quite the Notre Damne Cathedral (although thats probably what it will look like when it falls apart!), it was still a good change from the norm.
We did a lap of the place. This involved circling 2 massive lakes. During said lap, we climbed up a hill and did a world-class CASA pose on top of a MASSIVE stone. I could swear that i heard it say "Im a massive stone! Fair Play!" in a strange Ronan Keating accent. Happy with this, we collected our stones, dropped them in water and picked them out again. Only CASA members would be able to understand the logic of this so i decline to explain it to you "normies" out there.
I was dying of thirst at this stage, having declined to pay €3 for a drink at the Zoo so i decided to go into the visitor centre. Alas, they charge ya too and as one of the CASA commandments is not to get ripped off (witness the Clare stone storY), we instead went to a nearby service station.
Two stones down, one to go. Onwards to the annonymous county that is Carlow and the largest stone of all.
