ROOSEVELT YACHT CLUB

We have just wrapped up our first two events for 2007, and I think both were a success.

Poker night was a lot of fun, thanks to Bruce and Cathy Smith for providing a roulette table, chips and cards.  John Hobbs won the poker table and Stephanie Rush cleaned up in roulette.  Due to a second buy in, John conceeded his win to Cathy Smith, and after the random draw Cathy was awarded the $20.00 West Marine gift certificate and Stephanie went home with the $10.00 card.  There is one bet uncollected from this weekend, it appears a member (who shall remain nameless...Patriot) lost his 30' Sundancer in exchange for a MacGreggor 22.  I just hope Rhonda has prepared for the impending downsizing and lack of horsepower.  Hopefully, after word gets around the club about the fun and debauchery of this event, it will grow with larger prizes being awarded.

We enjoyed our largest turn out for the Cinco de Mayo fiesta, thanks largely to an increased attendance from the Tucson Sailing Club.  It was a pleasure to see Len Molloy join us again after leaving our lake for the Sea of Cortez, I was also glad to have the commodore from TSC, Loretta Peto, present him with his well deserved "Rocks and Shoals" award from the November cruise.  For those of you that were unable to attend, you missed the opportunity to meet Len's new friend Josephine.  She is a very attractive woman, although she is very quiet and a bit two-dimensional, but luckily she didn't eat much as we were a bit short on shredded beef this year.  Many thanks again to the Tucson Sailing Club and all RYC members that joined us.

The response that I have received about the Luau on June 2 be rescheduled.  Many members have other obligations, so it is probably best to postpone this event.  After discussion with the activities committee, I will announce the new date within the next month.

Don't forget to check out the new FOR SALE section on the website and e-mail me if you would like anything listed.  One picture per listing will be posted, and this service is free to RYC members in good standing.

As always my e-mail is always open for suggestion and comments about improving our club.
