... AT LAST!!! ...

Nobody Knows

I have had a week and a half and am not anxious to go through it any time soon. Even Kevin, that lad who made if a fine art of withdrawing people's chairs just when they were in the process of lowering themselves into them would flinch at a week like mine! Suffice it to say that in the span of a single week all 3 of my brothers have been hospitalized, I have made the acquaintance of a policeman whose gun was pointing right at my head, have sat through an exam that served no purpose other than to prove that I am more ignorant than I think I am and narrowly escaped from being run over by a big, blue, shiny Kenya Bus. Yes, I think in a nutshell that has been an eventful week, indeed I do! And again if you have complained about my not updating the site UMIA!

... BUT ...

Looking Up

On the other hand quite some interesting things happened. For one I have severed ties with education for another month and I find myself with every reason to vegetate and do nothing even remotely academic for an entire month. That is good news indeed! That means I can catch up on all that sleep that has bee so elusive! I must say that I have acquired an impressive backlog of sleep, which will be duly recovered!

For another Imelda my dear old faithful has not been replaced by Gathoni. She is young, light, dark, sleek and runs almost 100 times faster and has a sweet voice. And no, you gutter minded child of your parents, I am not talking about clandestine liaison neither! I speak with reference to my the notebook I acquired last week Friday!

Had an excellent series of meetings with my boss at the end of which I can inform you exactly what 'laughing all the way to the bank' means! My mother always thought I should have been a lawyer and now I know why!

Placed the finishing touches on a party that promises to be a whopper and a half. Why, do you ask? Because, of course, it will be graced by my presence! Boy am I going to have a ball!

... OF PAGEANTS ...

I appreciate feminine beauty and poise, and as a matter of fact celebrate it enthusiastically. But there are times when I begin to wonder if somehow, somewhere some puppeteer is pulling our strings. I don't mind Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss Africa or Even Miss Kenya. It is when we arrive at Miss Nairobi when things begin to get complicated. Residents of Mombasa fail to see why they should sing the praises of Miss Nairobi when they have a wide selection of ladies amongst their ranks. It is thus Miss Mombasa is born. While all this is transpiring it dawns upon the residents of Kisumu that they too should have someone to sing their praises.

Why do I say all this? Because either yesterday or the day before I was reading about the enthusiastic dawn of the reign of Miss Athi River.

Let us not forget that somewhere within our environs is Miss India Kenya. What this means exactly I cannot hazard a guess. If Miss India Kenya is amongst us then it is only reasonable to assume that within the populace of our great nation exists:
Miss Afghanistan Kenya
Mr. Taliban (Kenya Chapter)
Miss Congeniality
Miss Tery
Miss Ing
Miss Demeanor
Miss Take

While we are at it let us not forget that we also rejoice by possessing the Face Of Africa Pageant. Not to be undone it is only a matter of time before an enterprising individual proposes and another seconds...
Jaw of Africa
Side of Africa
Feet of Africa
Corns of Africa
Hands of Africa
African of Africa

Gathoni: One word. Magic
Wanja: Smile!
Geff: Long time no see!
O.B: Still a garden gnome as always!
Doreen: Didn't your mother tell you not to take sweets from a stranger? Why on earth do you go on to take pills from strangers?
Maria: No I am not dead! But thanks for asking!

... ACKNOWLEDGMENTS ...
I would like to thank Me for all the support I have given myself. I am one of a kind and I admire the time I have taken to do this when I could be doing other more interesting things like shelling peas.
Let us not forget Myself for the valuable contribution as well , of course, as I who is indispensable to this project!
There will also be some people who will want to be thanked effusively despite the fact that they have contributed nothing whatsoever. But I will thank them anyway when I can remember their names and when they are actually looking over my shoulder and I have no choice but to thank them for nothing!
