Turn out the lights |
Yes, yes, I've been missing for close to a week! No no, I am not the least bit apologetic. I believe that time and time again I have uttered words to the effect that updates would be forthcoming when the drive and the inspiration to do that struck me and that has been wanting for the past week! Why? Do you ask? Well, chiefly because I've not been feeling too well of late and when your head demands that you proceed to bed immediately under pains of excruciating headaches only the brave would defy that and continue with it's own activities. Many apologies to all those who have developed withdrawal symptoms -- it could not have been helped at all! The fact that Jambo Net have been 'upgrading their system' (I believe they have been doing this for close to 2 years now) thus rendering the connections as stable as Jelly in a hurricane has not helped at all! But worry not, things are back and in perspective as ever! |

As usual I continue to wonder at the intelligence (or lack of it) of some of the Children Of God. I believe that there is a DISCLAIMER that people are advised to read before embarking on anything but do some of us listen? Nooo! I refuse to get my mailbox cluttered by two bit complaints from people depriving their villages of idiots. To you who fall under this category I can summarize the disclaimer in one sentence... IF YOU DON'T LIKE ANYTHING HERE CLOSE THE WINDOW AND GO PAINT A BOAT WITH YOUR TONGUE! |

Barring the dead and the dying, no one can have failed to have heard about the recent fracas in Kibera. On second thoughts even the dying are fully aware of what is happening there. Many a time I have raised queries as to the suitability of our leaders for office and more often than not they continue to prove themselves as inept, uncaring and quite resourceful individuals keen on serving themselves rather than their people. The people will only matter, of course, in election year and that is when most of us will meet our MPs who will exude friendliness and generosity from every pore. |

But I digress. What was apparent in Kibera is what is called the Big Mouth Syndrome. It is an extremely common phenomenon and seems to strike people who are in power. The higher the office the more apparent are the symptoms. There is really only one symptom: The sufferer, when standing before large masses of people temporarily loses his mind and shoots off his mouth in a manner that will cause nothing but headaches and problems for everyone at large. We of course remember such gems as: As the utterer of these words is neither a landlord nor are they answerable to him, in what capacity did this individual utter this, rushing the entire area headlong towards doom? Since when did housing become free? Even government housing is not free! Why should Kibera housing be free? I wonder. And of course every Tom Dick and Harry rushed there to chip in their two cents worth and the net result?
What I wonder is for how long are we going to tolerate this kind of nonsense? Will rank stupidity and greed continue to be the scourge of this Nation? I for one hope not! And the only way to change things is to DO SOMETHING!! Next year, my friends, speak out! |
