Picture of the Week

What began as a tropical storm soon became the worst typhoon to be experienced by the Philippines since the 1960s. Onday deposited 16 inches of water in 6 hours Saturday morning on the metro Manila area. Nearly 300 lives have been lost, houses destroyed, roads turned into raging rivers, chest high flood waters, and landslides are just a few of the results. The picture of the bridge is actually a bridge that we cross each week to go to church.
Watching the news easily brings tears to our eyes to see the resulting carnage. An especially sad news report was heard on the radio on Monday. As the flood waters began subsiding the bodies of two small children were found nearby. They had drowned when the flooding first began. With no identification or any idea where the bodies originated it may be impossible to find the grieving parents. Please pray for this country as the people recover.
