Picture of the Week

This past week-end another typhoon arrived in the Philippines. Thankfully for the hard hit Manila area we did not receive much rainfall. Unfortunately, some areas up in the northern part of the island of Luzon did receive a significant amount of rainfall while experiencing flooding, a loss of life, mudslides, and homes destroyed. For the next few weeks we will share just a few of the extraordinary pictures. As you can imagine with rivers and creeks overflowing, the mud and garbage found within that water becomes deposited wherever that waters flow. This week we will show some of that mud on the roads and outside houses and next week pictures of houses that are still standing but were flooded on the bottom floor.
Our school superintendent sent out an update last week which included the following, My favorite quote coming out of this event demonstrates the incredible Filipino spirit: one of the Faith employed staff, when asked by her supervisor how she was doing replied - "We are fine sir. Our appliances are floating around the house downstairs. I went to my sisters place and it was the same. The good thing is there are plenty of fish to catch!"
SEND International has established a "Philippine Flood Relief" fund to help
those who are victims of the floods last week. If you are led of the Lord to give just write your check to "SEND International" earmarked
"Philippine Flood Relief" and mail to SEND International, Box 513,
Farmington, MI 48332. Any money that's given will be distributed by our local SEND Area Council to churches and people who are most in need.
