SYNOPSIS:
|
Sai, Sage, and Kento cross dimensions and land in different series...I think. Help me out with this one, Mako?
|
MAKO:
|
No sweat, kiddo! It's a crossover
with
Robotech and Disney's The Black
Cauldron.
|
MISH:
|
*blink* Robotech? Black Cauldron? *blink*

ARGH! I am a HUGE Max and Miriya fan. This fic has
shattered my delusions
of "happily ever after" for them.
GEEZ! Did you have to do it, Aaron? I love yaoi, but I
have certain delusions about certain characters and
Max Sterling is
definitely NOT one of them. Not because I
don't think he lacks bishonen type qualities, far from
it. I'll take Max
over Rick any day; it's just that he has such a
wonderful love story with Miriya that I just can't
picture him with
another guy! I feel so tainted.

Okay, Im really confused by this one. First off, theres the subtitle of "Episode 1" under the title of the first part...but therere only two parts. A two part saga?
|
MAKO:

Try reading more comic
books, Mish, they do it
all the time!

MISH:

*blink* Comic books? *blink* *blink*
Then theres the claim that this fic is finished, yet, theres no resolution to what started out as a great plot. The end shouldnt be the end, because as far as I can tell, Sai, Sage, and Kento are still wandering around in their alternate universes. After that, were slapped with "The End!!!!"
|
MAKO:
|
Uh, What she
said! I'm still trying to
figure out how the hell the two series could blend in
with a Disney flick in
the first place.

MISH:

I like happy, circular stories where everything returns to normal and we all go out for pizza and ice cream afterwardsthis story just left me wondering.

There's no place like home!"

This contains dangerous crossover stuff...its intended to mess with your mind and make you wonder.

Mission accomplished. I wasnt familiar with any of the other shows that this fic is crossed with (which, unfortunately, will make my rating of this fic somewhat biased).
The language is very choppy, which makes the fic difficult to read through. I get the feeling that Aaron has a vivid image of his story taking place, but has trouble putting it into adequate wording. There were attempts at angst that just didnt develop because of this shortcoming.
Okay, with that being said, there are some really good moments in the story.
excerpt:
He pulled away and looked into Maxs eyes removing Maxs glasses and was shocked to see that Maxs eyes werent blue at all but a rather nice and pleasant hazel, kinda like well cooked chocolate cookie or maybe hot caramel.

And here I was thinking about something else to
nibble on. Oh, to be a
certain green haired Zentradi...
|
MISH:
|
That has to be one of the most humourous similes Ive come across. Then theres this one...
excerpt:
They laid there a long time when the ship shuddered and the PA came on. "All veritech pilots to their squads immediately. We are under Zentrati attack. All Veritech pilots to their squads immediately."
Max slowly lifted his head. "Not now."

MISH:

Dont they know that they have to turn the ringers on their phones, the sound on their beepers, and the speakers on their PAs OFF before having sex? And then theres my favourite line in the entire fic.
excerpt:
perhaps we can fight this great evil here and go home. |
MISH:
|
That line sums up my sentiments on reviewing this fic.

Can I click the heels of my magenta stilettos now?

I give the first part a 6, the second part a 4... and the whole thing a perfect ten for achieving the goal stated in the disclaimer.
|
MAKO:
|
First part, 3 (sorry, but read the rant about Max
above!). Second part, 5,
simply for including a Disney film in a not so "goody
goody" type of story.
Overall...4, because I'm still lost!
