The area
Rondane is Norways first national park, established in 1962. In the 630 km2 covered by the park we have 10 peaks over 2000 meters, and a wonderfully varied landscape shaped by the ice age and erosion by the elements.

The climate is very mild for a mountainous area here in Norway, and we enjoy fantastic dry, warm summers and sunny, mild winters.

Mysuseter, where our cabin is located,  is a small hamlet on the doorstep of the national park. Here you will find a few sheep farms, one small convenience store, some holiday homes and two hotels catering for the many tourists that enjoy winter and summer activities in the national park.

During the summertime, the main activity in Rondane is hiking from hut to hut-the scenery is superb and there is a very well developed network of trails as well as hostels, lodges and huts to spend the night in. The Norwegian Touring Association (DNT) has an excellent website packed with information about hiking trails and accomodation in the Rondane and other Norwegian national parks.

In winter we have excellent trails for cross country (nordic) skiing, starting from right outside the door of Berget. At Mysuseter we also have a piste for slalom, telemark and downhill skiing, and of course snowboarding. This piste is only 15 min. (downhill!) skiing from the cabin.
In the nearby areas you can enjoy a variety of high adrenaline activities such as rafting, canyoning and rock/ice climbing. For people who enjoy a more relaxed lifestyle, there are many options such as elk/reindeer safaris, kayaking/canoeing, farm visits, fishing and much much more. Please dont hesitate to contact us for more information!

Rondane is rich in animal life, and if you are lucky, you may spot one of Norways last remaining herds of wild reindeers. Perhaps you may even see the elusive musk ox, an animal bearing much resemblance to the American buffalo. You might see foxes, elks (in the lower areas of the national park), eagles... All these animals and many more are waiting for you, right here in Rondane!
