My father, Lawrence, was an internationally known horticulturist and more. Indeed, my grandfather's ranch became for Lawrence the culmination of more than half a century of labor and love. He was also a worldly man, well-traveled, well-read, and like his plants, well-bred.

Glenda Ruth met my father, and her future husband, while the two were on vacation at a health spa in the Swiss Alps. Mere children at the time, they quickly grew to love one another, and that love they passed on to their children.
