Sign Five: Crown of Thorns
The puzzle of Sign Four sets us back and we retire to contemplate with Sign Five: Crown of Thorns.
Through foreheaded
blood
flow of past/present
message,
the two-faced monster
becomes a thorn of our love,
recreating itself.
Self doubt prevails here, as expressed by the two faces. We have entered this new life to only find a confusing mix of old symbols that have no meaning to what we had anticipated.

The shape of this sign is more square-like, symbolizing a meditation on several important concepts. First, the four sides are a reflection on the four of the cross/puzzle from the previous sign. As opposed to the circle of the heavens, the square also symbolizes our new Earthly existence. As an architectural symbol, the square symbolizes the fixation of a building, a stopping point where one becomes sedentary and meditative. In sacred architecture it symbolizes a form of transcendent knowledge, a path to wisdom. Fifth but not finally, the square is the foremost archetypal symbol to some religions, where it represents the pattern of order in the universe and the perfect measure of Man.

In Sign Five, the fifth digit indicates the symbol of the Mind in meditation, as we are now fully transferred from Spirit to Mind in our journey. The crown of thorns is to be found internally, on the other side of the faces. Evidential blood flows from beneath them. And like the two faces, the thorns here also become an opposing-part symbol, representing pain to any intruder yet protection for the life form that owns it. The lesson of Sign Five is to own the pain so that, as a thorn of love, we may learn to create. One face looks toward the Tree of Life. The other is looking at the viewer.

Entrenched beneath the sign's surface, above the faces, we see the premier appearance of a fragmented
Wisdom Tablet. We will consider its etched message further as our journey continues.
