Fences Lesson 9

 

Journal:

    A time when a friend and I had two different ideas about the same thing was when I told her we had a test on Friday and she said it was on a Wednesday. When she asked out teacher. I was right and she would not accept that I was right and she was wrong.

Questions:

1. What does marriage mean to Troy?

To Troy marriage means that you have to work and provide for you family and nothing else.

2. What does marriage mean to Rose?

To Rose marriage means that you have to be committed 100% all the time. It also means that you have to be loving and caring for everyone and being faithful no matter what.

3. Why does Troy become violent?

Troy became violent because Rose has said that he always takes and never gives and he didn't like what Rose was telling him.

4. How does Troy react when confronted with the truth?

Troy didn't like it at all.

5. How has Troy shut out all the people who care about him?

He shut everyone out by telling them off and treating them worse than usual.

6. Why does Rose speak out later?

Because she felt that she had to tell Troy what was on her mind.

7. Why doesn't Troy hit Cory?

I think he didn't hit Corry because he saw himself just like his father.

 

Fences lesson 10

Journal:

    If I could have anything in life, I would want a genie. I would want a genie so I could wish for a million other wishes. That way I could have what ever I want. I would wish for a few furnished mansions, one for my mom and dad and another one for my little sister to share with my little brother and another one just for me and. Then I would wish for a zoo and people to take care of it because I can't do it alone.

Questions:

1. What has life become at the Maxons?

It has just become an ongoing battle for who gets to keep Troy the longest

2. How has Troy betrayed Gabe?

Troy betrayed Gabe because he let them put him away in a home.

3. What does Troy ask of Rose? How does Rose answer?

Troy asked Rose if she could take care of his baby because her mother died while giving birth. Rose said that she would take care of the baby because it is innocent but that Troy is still a womanless man.

4. How has Troy/Bono's relationship changed?

They have become more distant and they don't hang out as much as they used to.

5. How does Troy confront death?

Troy just faces it like a man because it came when he least expected it.

6. Why does he now say he's going to build a fence?

I guess because he saw hat he needs it as a symbol of a barrier to show that no one can come in to break up his family.

7. How does Corry come to terms with his father?

After he is dead and they are going to his funeral and he didn't want to, he got past the fence and all the bad things and went through with the funeral.

8. How has Lyons followed in Troy's footsteps?

He is old and he doesn't really make that much money. He is also following a dream that will never come true.
