Fences lesson 5

Journal:

I dislike Mondays -the worst day of the week,  is because its just a fresh week and everyone is back from the weekend. On most Mondays I'm still tired from the weekend and I don't want to be in school. Usually I always find myself falling  asleep in some classes. I find the day to be really boring.

1. What is the purpose of a monologue?

You  usually see it in a play, but the purpose of it is to deliver a message.

2.

HW#5 Complete your monologue.

Some people find that riches and money is everything. They want to have all the latest cars, the nice big house and the best of the best. In order to have a taste of that first you have to get past school and have a well paying job. Most people wont even get close to all of the money and the fame. Education is really the key to everything. Without that you're not going anywhere. If you want a taste off all the nice things in life you have to work for it. you have to grow up and get past all the petty little things that are not important and reach to the top. When you get to the top be proud of yourself and enjoy it before its all gone because when you die it can't go with you.

Fences Lesson 6

Journal:

People aren’t always how they seem to be because some people don't show the way they really are when they are around a certain group of people. Other people might have problems and you might think they are crazy or insane, but its not they they are crazy, its just that they see things a different way than you do.

Questions:

A fence is something that keeps you isolated from other things or people around you. What  sort of problems do Troy and Rose have?

2. What sort of problems do Troy and Rose have?

I think they need to work out some issues. I also think Troy should be more honest with Rose.

3. Why does Rose want Troy to build a fence?

So people could stay off of their property.

To Rose a fence would help her set her goals. It would keep Cory inside and out of trouble. It would also keep her family together.

5. Why doesn’t Troy finish building the fence?

Troy didn't finish building the fence because he let himself get distracted by another woman, so if you really look at it he let Alberta on the other side of his family's fence were she didn't belong.

6. What is a fence to Troy?

A fence to Troy is a blockade around him and everyone besides his family. Its like that for him because he probably feels like there is a fence between him and Alberta.

7. Why doesn’t he want to be kept in?

If Troy is kept inside he can't see Alberta and he has to stay stuck to Rose all the time.

Because he talks about how he saw Troy's name in the judgment book meaning that he knows about Troy's afraid with Alberta and about the things that he has done. He also moved out and he wants to be independent.

H.W.#6    If Gabe could talk sanely to Troy in a letter is would probably say:

Dear Troy,

How are you? I'm fine. How is Rose? I hope you did the right thing and told her about what you really do with your time when you're not home. Rose is a good woman and she doesn't deserve all of those problems you're bringing onto the other side of that fence. Good Luck Troy. I'll see you around.

                                                                                                                     your brother, Gabe.
