The 22nd annual Rogers Family Reunion was held on August 15, 1999, with approximately 200 persons attending. The weather cooperated and we had a great day of renewing old aquaintances and getting to know new relatives.
Several branches of the family were represented this year with descendants from the following families. Represented were the families of--Thomas, Patton M.C., Edmon and Erastus Rogers.
We had families from Virginia, Tennessee, Ohio, West Virginia, Maryland, Florida, Kentucky and Texas. Several of these were first time visitors.
The oldest in attendance was Oveland Rogers Asbury, daughter of Emmitt and Mary (Baker) Rogers. The youngest present was Leonard Jackson Harless,II, son of Leonard and Wanda (Rogers) Harless. Both are descendants of Edmon Rogers
We held our annual "Pretty Woman" and "Ugly Man" contest. The winners were: Pretty Woman-Marie Rogers and Ugly Man-Lloyd L. Cobb, Jr. This contest is a very big hit at the reunion and all done in fun. It is a penny per vote and the proceeds are used to help defray the expenses incurred by the reunion.
With this being the last reunion of the millennium, we are all looking forward to a larger attendance for the 2000 reunion. This will be held on the 3rd Sunday of August as in the past.
