Dear Maria, I am really stressed, but yet tired at the same time. I am writing a play for my Children's Church. I am writing it very well and it is turning out wonderfully, but the thing is, it is so hard to please everybody, there's this one guy that wants to change his name in the play cause he doesn't like the name I picked, then there's this other girl that thinks I put her in too low of a grade in the play, then there's my best friend who plays the supporting roll in it and she thinks she has too many lines, and boy, I tell you, I am really tired of everybody griping at me!!! Please tell me what I should do. Stressed

Dear Maria, What would you do if a giant meatball was rolling toward you? Elisa

Dear Elisa, I would take the rhino mentioned in my guestbook and lead it right in the path of the meatball. That's what I'D do if that rhino was charging me.

DearStressed, It can be hard when people are picking apart your brainchild- I've been there before!- but do try to hear them out. Sometimes change could be better (for instance, if your best friend is bad at memorizing large parts, it may be best make her part with fewer lines), but remember: the person who tries to please everybody pleases nobody. It's your play, and although you may need to compromise to keep the waters smooth, remember you are the one who decides in the end how the play will be. If people are complaining just to be annoying, for no good reason (like the boy that doesn't like his name in the play), tell them gently that this YOU are writing it, and that is the way you envisioned the play (or tell the boy that he could have a name like Maximilian Frankweilerschnitzen). Good luck in your play-writing!
