The weekend started off with a few of the Geelong Street Rodders meeting at a service station in Geelong for the 3 hour drive to Echuca-Moama on the Victorian-New South Wales boarder on Friday Morning.
The Rich River Rod and Custom Club put this event on every 2 years as there is only about 18 members in the club it is a big and good job that they do to put it on. On Friday evening they have an early registration at the local Autobarn store in Echuca and then it is to Victoria Park for a sausage sizzle and bench session between 7pm and late, Where everyone meets up and catches up with friends with Jukebox music playing in the back ground.
On Saturday there was more registrations being taken from 8pm in the morning. Then all the rodders gathered at Victoria Park at 10:30am for a 35 mile cruise to Mathoura in New South Wales, Where at the Mathoura Bowling Club lunch was served to the many rodders that made the cruise. There where market stalls there and other attractions that the rodders did after there lunch, Besides looking at the rods that had assembled in the car parks. Then later in the afternoon it was all into our rods for the cruise back to Echuca. At 4:15pm on Saturday afternoon, Buses went around Echuca-Moama picking up rodders that where waiting outside their accomadation around various parts of the town. The buses then dropped everyone off at the Old Port of Echuca where we got onto paddle steamers for a ride around to the Moama Bowling Cub, Where they gave us dinner (Over 1000 were done) and danced the night away to 2 bands. When the night ended there were buses outside the club to take rodders back to where they were staying.
On Sunday morning they served breakfast at Victoria Park (Pancakes). At 10:00am there were buses again to take wifes and girlfriends to a cheese and wine tasting and fashion parade in Moama, While the fellows cleaned and polished there rods for the Show and Shine at the Aquatic Reserve on the banks of the Murry River at 11:00pm. Lunch was supplied and they provided a camp oven meal which was cooked on hot coals in the middle of the Reserve. They auctioned a 34 Ford chassis which was bought by a fellow Geelong Street Rodder, which will be built to his specs. At 2:00pm they had their presentations and raffle draws and another succesful Rich River Rod Run was over, And everyone went to their rods for their drive home.
On behalf of the Rodders that attended I would like to congratulate the Rich River and Custom Club, Their wifes and friends and also their sponsors for putting on another great Rod Run and I'm sure there will be alot that will return in 2 years time when it will be on again.
