Tennessee’s Joy

Besides a love for writing Tennessee had one other love in his life. His life companion Frank Merlot. They had many travels together and it was during his travels to Sicily with frank that he wrote his first comedy, “The Rose Tattoo” in 1948.

Tennessee’s writing was greatly received and he write a number of very poular hits including “The Glass Menagerie”,A Streetcar Named Desire”,Summer and Smoke”,Camino Real” , “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof”,The Rose Tattoo”,  “Suddenly Last Summer”,  “Sweet Bird of Youth”, and “The Night of the Iguana” He received honors at the Kennedy Center for his lifetime of achievements and the Medal of Freedom form Jimmy Carter in 1979.
