The Edsir Coat of
Arms |

Whilst there is no Edser Coat of Arms one does exist
for Edsir As noted elsewhere the are
no entries for Edsir in the 1881 Census and I have
assumed that all descendants (assuming there are any) have adopted the
surname of Edser. Burkes General Armoury of
1884 however includes an entry as follows; Edsir (co A picture is included but I do not have a copy. The terminology of heraldry is as follows Ar=argent=silver or white Gu=gules=red Vert=green Per= manner in which the field is divided Fesse=middle third Orle=an inner border not touching the extremities, the field being seen
within and without Ppr=proper=in a natural manner Slipped= the stalk depicted so as torn from the
original stem Pinks are a flower, of the ????
family If anyone thinks they can draw that, or make a copy
of the original I would be delighted to stick it on the web. I am pretty sure that the granting of these arms is
closely linked to Louisa Maria Edsir, (Google her,
it is a good story) who was brought up by Farley Edsir,
who also spelt his name Edser and Edsor, who must
surely be a descendant of the Thomas Edser who married Mary Farley. |
