| Many of the most important acts in modern popular music were those who were unafraid to challenge conventional norms in their perspective field of music Some became huge commercial successes and others dwelled in obscurity for the entirety of their careers There is a simple but heavy decision to be made in the mind of the artist who seeks the road less travelled Is it worth it? Can you walk the fine line between art and commerce? If so, how do you accomplish this task? I believe this task can be accomplished by using the tools that popular media employs while flying your counter ideaology in under the radar Dazzle them with flash Distract them image Overload them with information Follow through with a quality product Manipulate the media You still face insurmountable odds but you stand a chance for greater longevity if you do in fact succeed The amount of success you are willing to settle for determines what you are willing to do to get as far as you can Some dream of massive fame and material gains whereas I see success in the form of varied adventure and experience I don't intend on dwelling in obscurity but I am realistic about the odds of acheiving superstardom Therefore, I believe I have a healthy balance of realism and ambition |
