Kelowna Rockets
December 26, 2002 - The World Junior Hockey Championship kicked off today in Halifax and Sydney with four games on the schedule. Canada won their game against Sweden 8 to 2, Finland defeated Germany 4 to 0, Russia beat the U.S. 5 to 1, and finally Switzerland doubled Belarus 4 to 2. For continuing tournament results and my opinions on Canada's games, check the recently added WJHC section. September 20, 2002 - The Kelowna Rockets kicked of the regular season with a game against the Portland Winterhawks. Joni Lindlof (pp) opened the scoring for Kelowna in the first period, a one-goal lead they took into the first intermission. Portland tied it up in the second period with an ugly goal, but Cam Paddock (pp) scored later on to make it 2 to 1. However, as is common for the Rockets, they had about a 2 minute breakdown, which led to 2 Winterhawk goals. There was no scoring in the third period. But even though they lost, the Rockets look to have a promising team, (Josh Lepp, Nick Tarnasky, and Joni Lindlof come to mind) so
I'd expect some good things from them in the future.
