My favorite M&G with Elliott (thus far) was definitely after the Hofstra show on June 2nd, 2001. He had made a heart to auction off for Camp Heartland, which I had tried but failed to win (lack of money). One of the reasons why I had wanted it so badly was because they had each recorded a little bit of a song on to the frame for their heart, and Elliott's song was Rock River. He told me at the M&G that he had thought of me and that's why he sang Rock River, and then talked to me for a long time about what the song means to him and what it means to me. He actually asked about my personal problems that had made the song so poignant for me this year, and I was so touched that he was interested. He even shared with me somewhat how the song was inspired. It's unbelievable to me that he could care so much about his fans that he would actually spend such a long time talking with me in such depth about my favorite song. ~Louise
Ode to Elliott How do I love thee...lemme see I know if I say the wrong thing Sue will make me cease to be So I must be careful and nonchalant Even though we all know Elliott is really hot His heart melting smile, and the voice that drives us wild. I must admit, Elliott's got mad style I love a man who loves his fam And every once in a while, you'll find he's a ham His grin and grind, blow my mind... ~Jadey
After the GrooveBarbers concert where Elliott stood in for the regular baritone, El told us the cutest story about his son. He said that every Tuesday, he and his family order rice and beans from a nearby restaurant. Well, apparently, Eli has been paying attention. El said one day (a Thursday) Eli picked up the phone and said "Beans!" and hung up. So of course Elliott called the actual restaurant and ordered them so that Eli would get his beans. I just thought it was the cutest story - and of course El has the biggest smile while telling it. ~Jenn
Okay, so this one isn't really an Elliott encounter, its more of an Eli encounter. January 6, 2001. We're standing at the top of the stairs at Flourence Gould and Debbie comes up with Eli. I comment on how beautiful his curls are and Debbie thanks me, then I ask Eli for his autograph to which Debbie replies, "Maybe when he learns to write" and laughs. ~Jadey
Elliott was always my favorite on "Carmen." I go back now, years later, and watch the episodes with him as Elvis and the one of him singing the clue to the tune of "Windy," and I fall in love all over. I usually sit there amazed at how cool he still is. My Elliott moment takes place in my hometown of Albany, NY. After being a sweety at the soundcheck and apologizing for Scott kicking a bottle of water at me, the meet and greet could be nothing less than spectacular. El came right over to Louise and me to say hello. I told him that I didn't have anything for him to sign since he was sick at Hofstra so I didn't get a picture. He brushes right past me and says "That's OK, I didn't want to sign anything of yours anyway!" and smiles his adorable smile. It STILL amazes me that he is so cool that he will joke around with his fans like that. I'm not even going to get into discussion about his AMAZING voice or his awesome lyrics because I could go on forever. So I'll just say that Elliott Kerman is TOTALLY FUNKY (a high honor in my book) and ROCKS MY WORLD! P.S. Hey El, I love those shoes! ~Amy
This isn't really a moment, but a situation. At the Hofstra concert, June 2nd, Elliott was sick with a cold. Poor Elliott. But he came to the meet and greet anyway, and he was so adorable. I brought him some non-dairy chocolate (which I think he was impressed by), and we talked, and I asked for a picture. He, being ever-so-sweet, of course, agreed, but made it quite clear that he didn't want to make me sick. You can see in the picture (see Meet The Elliettes) that he even curled his hand up into his sleeve, wich was adorable. Well, the next morning, I woke up with the sniffles. I thought it might have been psychosomatic, as if I wanted to have a cold, but it just kept getting worse. Sore throat, sneezing, coughing, congestion... "That's right, El, you made me sick!" I admit it was kinda funny... until it became full blown. That was not a fun cold. However, I was the happiest sick person around, because I had Elliott's germs. Just one more thing from the meet and greet. After the picture, I was asking El about Rock River (again) and got the explanation that they had never rehearsed it with the curtrent group. Being silly, I made the comment, "Well you could just tell Kevin to sing thirds with Scott..." His reply was, "You would think so, wouldn't you?" and he laughed. Now, I don't know if El was intentionally making fun of Kevin or if it just came out wrong because he was sick, but it was really funny. ~Sue
