  1. Make Poverty History is a campaign with many people involved. They've brought together "300 charities, campaigns, trade unions, faith groups and celebrities who are united by a common belief that 2005 offers a unprecedented opportunity for global change.". This is a website that informs people about poverty around the world, why it happens, you can contact the Prime Minister Tony Blair about this issue, a place to vote for trade justice, and different sites to get a white band. The white bands are only in the UK but if you go to White Band, you can order packs of white bands to raise awareness and they have links for different countries. MPH also tells why poverty happens, what people can do, and has many different sites for donations, information, and to see what other people around the world are doing to help stop poverty.
  2. The Salvation Army is a Christian based group that wants to meet human needs in "His name without discrimination". The Salvation Army "shows practical concern and care for the needs of people regardless of race, creed, status, colour, sex or age." Under the 'Donate now' button, you can specify where you want your money to go. They will ask for your credit card number! They take VISA, American Express, Discover, and Mastercard.
  3. Harvest Help helps farmers increase their food production to reduce the risk of a poor harvest, have helped over 2,600 people start their own business, and will provide money to help re-build and construct new water wells to prove clean and safe water in Zambia and Malawi.
  4. The Borgen Project informs people through the media about poverty and also contacts politicians about the seriousness of poverty.
  5. Bread for the World is a website with information about poverty and what you can do to help. You can order a 12 page booklet with what you can do to help end hunger. BFW members write to, call, and visit members of Congress and create media attention to raise awareness of hunger.
