<"Who's going on the perimeter sweep?">
SGM Brantley steps up and says "I'll go sir."
"Okay, who else?" replies the major.
Captain Wolfe steps up and says "I'll go sir, I got a few lovely welcoming gifts for any unwanted visitors."
"SSG Martinez, you take a look at the vehicles. Cutter, you and Sergeant Major Martinez man the weapons you
are at. Captain Carpanetti, you watch our backside, and I'll spell somebody on the line in a little while."
"Come on Brantley, you can help me get the presents for any visitors" says CPT Wolfe. When Brantley and
CPT Wolfe reach the humvee, CPT Wolfe reaches in and uncovers a case of claymores. "Heh heh, I love leaving
presents" cracks CPT Wolfe as he grabs 2 claymores. He checks the chamber of his M16 and his Browning High
Power and turns to SGM Brantley, "ready?"
SGM Brantley cracks the bolt and checks the chamber on his sniper rifle and says "yep."
Challenge and passwords are exchanged, then Wolfe and Brantley head out to check the perimeter. They sweep out
a good 200 meters, almost to the road, then travel all the way around. CPT Wolfe places one claymore on the most
likely approach from the road (north of the patrol base) and the other on the backside of the base (south side).
Their sweep confirms that the location is well picked. The position is sheltered from the road by thick brush (about
a 100m north of the camp), and surrounded by trees on the other sides.
About an hour and a half later (1230 LMT) CPT Wolfe and SGM Brantley report back to the major "all clear sir,
position looks good. We can probably stay here for 3 or 4 days."
"Thanks, I want to be back on the move in no more than 3 days, preferably sooner. We'll continue to monitor
the radio, and send out patrols at least once a day. I don't want any unexpected visitors." Major Stone then
turns to CPT Cappanetti "how is that inventory coming?"
"Almost done sir, you'll have it in under 15 mikes (minutes)" replies the captain. CPT Cappanetti then
turns to CPT Wolfe and SGM Brantley "What do you have?"
CPT Cappenetti turns to the major "quick question sir, should we crack the MREs or send out a foraging party?
Personally I'd send out a foraging party."
SGM Martinez calls the major over to him. "Sir, it's your call, but I hate this hiding like a snake crap.
I'm an infantryman, and I suggest that we conduct an aggressive defense. We could always use some more supplies
and radio freqs are REAL handy."
"I'll think it over" replies Major Stone.
