<SGT Holland drops to the ground, trying to become one with it. Not sure, if the individual is Russian or American,
he slithers behind the nearest good sized tree.>
SGT Holland hears the soldier shout "COME OUT WITH YOUR HANDS UP!!!" SGT Holland decides that to comply.
He stashes his weapons and gear other than his medical kit. SGT Holland then shouts "OK I'm coming out, don't
shoot, I'm friendly!"

<SSG Cutter waits for CPT Wolfe to take cover, and then shouts "COME OUT WITH YOUR HANDS UP!!!">
SSG Cutter sees the individual stand up with his hands in the air. The individual slowly comes forward. SSG Cutter
allows him to advance until he reaches about 10 meters from him. SSG Cutter then halts him, tells him to put his
hands on his head, and face away from him. The soldier complies. CPT Wolfe then moves forward to cover the soldier.
Once CPT Wolfe is in position, SSG Cutter moves forward to search the soldier.

<SGM Stewart takes cover facing the direction the soldier came from while waiting for him to come to. Keeping
an eye out, SGM Stewart examines the ID card that he acquired. It seems that the soldier is a Junior Noncomm.>
SGM Stewart, satisfied that the soldier was alone, collects the prisoner and moves towards the pillar of black
smoke. After about 10 minutes of moving forward (carrying his prisoner), you stumble and drop your prisoner. The
prisoner starts to moan and cough...about the same time, you spot a semi-camoflagued truck about 100 meters to
the southeast. The prisoner is starting to become louder...
Location: The village of Ladek Stary (15 km West of the Captured Duece)
Time: 0555 20 July 2000
<The quick tour (about 15 minutes) ends at the building that Josef indicated was the armory. Josef says that
the village has very little, and nothing automatic. He points out several weapons that he is willing to trade for
your pistol, on the condition that you stick around for at least a week. The weapons are as follows: A bolt action
hunting rifle (8mm Mauser), a lever action rifle (.30-30), and a pump 12 guage shotgun. Josef then asks what you
would like to trade for, or if you have a different offer.>
CPT Lee considers the offer, then says "Well now, I'm not about to trade in my Beretta here. We've been through
a lot together." Lee chuckles and pats his holstered pistol. "My friend here has bailed me out of some
sticky situations. I'll just hold on to this and if there's an emergency, you can lend me one of the weapons."
Lee then nods at Josef.
Josef says "I understand...it's always reassuring to have a weapon that you are familiar with. If there is
an emergency, we'll make sure you are properly armed."
Lee then looks at the damaged portion of town. "Tell me about the battle
damage around the town. How did that occur? I don't recall the 5th division being anywhere nearby. I'm assuming
your town was attacked by marauders recently?"
Josef explains that the marauder attack took place about a month ago... He further explains that the marauders
had several light vehicles...mostly UAZ-469s and trucks.
Lee also asks more about Van Clete. "Where was he found? What equipment was he carrying? Did a doctor or medical
personnel take a look at him?"
Josef explains that medical personnel are far and few between. "We have no one in the village that has any
real medical skill, beyond basic first aid. SGT Van Clete seems to be in good health, and doesn't seem to be suffering
from any obvious injuries or illnesses." Josef also explains that Van Clete was found wandering alone in the
forest to the west of the village.
After a few moments of silence... there is a cry from the sentries. CPT Lee turns to Josef who says "One of
the patrols has come in early. Something important must have come up." Josef then quickly trots towards the
gate.
Josef speaks with the sentries, then picks up the binoculars at the post. "Hmmm...they seem to have someone
with them. I can't make out the details from here." He then offers the binoculars to CPT Lee.
CPT Lee takes the binoculars and after focusing them, starts to make out details. Though the patrol is still a
ways out, you recognize the soldier's weapon and gear. CPT Lee quickly ID's the weapon as an M4 with a 203 underslung...whoever
it is, they are well armed.
After about 10 minutes the patrol reaches the perimeter. While the patrol leader talks to Josef, the soldier walks
over to CPT Lee and stops about 10 paces from him, then begins to look CPT Lee over.
CPT Lee does the same, and several things jump out at him. Among the things he notices right away is that the soldier
is named Ikeman, is a senior NCO, and has had at least 5 combat jumps. The thing that really jumps out is the scroll
on his right shoulder, not the normal unit patch. On Ikeman's left shoulder a half moon patch that CPT Lee recognizes
as a ranger tab.
While CPT Lee looks over Ikeman, Ikeman does the same. Ikeman notices several things right away. The flight suit
gives CPT Lee away as an aviator. Closer examination reveals that CPT Lee is a Marine...
While the examination is going on, PSG Van Clete and his interpreter join the group. He looks over the newcomer,
and tries to remember if he has seen him before.
