Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” Mark Twain, 1835-1910 American Author

"What a long, strange trip it's been"

Starting from 1979 when I joined the Oregon National Guard to my present assignment at Ft. Sherman, Panama, I hope to give you a insight into the life of a Grunt! My MOS is 11C...Mortars. With the exception of being a Recruiter for three years (a whole different ballgame!) this is the only job I've had while in the Army. And I love it!

Right now I'm stationed in Panama. I work for the Jungle Operations Training Bn. Our mission is to train units that come from stateside in the art of Jungle Warfare. Very rewarding job. Most of the young soldiers will never get this chance again so we make it as tough as possible on them. Of course the Jungle does that most of the time without our help!! As we like to say over here

"The Jungle Is Neutral!"

These are some of the units I've been stationed with during my career in the Army. Each and every one of them has a great lineage and I've been very proud to have served in them. To learn more about these units click on their patch.

CURRENT DUTY STATION

Well I'm stationed at Ft. Hood now. I'm assigned to 3-66 AR Battalion in the 4th Infantry Division. I left Panama in May of 1999. Really hated to leave so soon, but I guess all good things must come to an end. Ft. Hood is located in Central Texas. It's about 155 miles south of Dallas and only 77 miles north of Austin. I was stationed here back in '83-84, and honestly not a lot has changed!! I'm going to continue to try and put more photos out there. Just been busy, not the beach and volleyball time I had in Panama :)
