We found this place just at the edge of Virgina. It is only about 3/4 of a mile off the Blue Ridge Parkway, at mile marker 178. It is in Meadows of Dan and offers great scenery on and off the parkway, for day trip loops. It is also a motorcycle only campground with all the ammenities. Everything there is on the honor system, which is few and far between these days. When you get there you first pick your site and setup, then go up and fill out an envelope and place in the drop box. The campground is part of Will's own home and as you come in and out, you go by his front door, so you don't have to worry about your stuff. Just watch out for Rocky the raccoon! The campground has crystal clean bathrooms, a covered breakfast area, and a large pavillion for groups. There is a community camp fire every evening where you can meet some great people. For a small fee, Will goes each morning to the local famers market and gets either a chicken or sausage biscuit for everyone. He places them in a bowl on the picnic table, right in front of the fresh brewed coffee waiting for you when you get up. We have experienced nothing but great things at Willville and recommend it to anyone looking for great riding or just a weekend get away and relax. |
