Tiradentes
We went to Tiradentes by way of this 1920s wood-burning locomotive called the Maria Fumaca.
This colonial town is named after a revolutionary hero, Joaquin Jose da Silva Xavier.  His nickname was Tiradentes, the "tooth puller".  Here is Barry beside a statue of him.
In all of these cities we visited are magnificent churches and beautiful buildings.  Linnea loved this street going up to the main church with the pretty colors and cobblestones.
We went to the ----- museum where we saw many intersting things.  Here is a sedan chair in which slaves transported the local elites.
