VA. I recently received new info from Kaye Lanier on a web site listing a
Cornelius Robertson and this site has 52 pages listing this man wherabouts
starting in 1767 Pittslyvania CO VA. Cornelius Roberts is listed in Capt.
David Looney's CO with LT. Daniel Boone and his son Israel Boone 1774
Fincastle CO VA Militia Roster.
This new info is really interesting and has men listed I have listed on the
Cope-L list.
1767 tax list by Peter Copland - Pittsylvania CO VA- here are few names
listed and I will try to add wifes' to some of these men.Pittslyvania CO was
created in 1767 from Halifax CO VA.

CO VA 1785. There was a Fort at Glade Hollow 1774- 1790s.
Burton Litton and William Priest were killed by Indians near Fort Glade
Hollow 1778.

There is a listing for a Fort at Elk Garden 1774 Fincastle CO VA and on the
Russell CO VA web site there is a listing for Capt. John Kinkead/Kincaid who
was at Fort Elk Garden 1778 who went to Fort Glade Hollow where Burton Litton
and William Priest were killed. Samuel Litton a brother of Burton was
captured by the Indians 1780 with Capt. John Duncan Riddle's station and
taken to Canada and the released at the end of the Rev War.
There is also a listing of a John Duncan killed by Chief Logan 5 days after a
Roberts family was killed 29 Sept 1774 near Moore's Fort at Castlewood (
Fincastle CO ) Russell CO VA under the command of Daniel BOONE.
The last Indain attack in Russell CO VA was by Chief Benge ( Robert ) in 1794
and he was killed by Vincent HOBBS. Iam pretty sure that the Hobbs family
found by James Cope 1830 Warren CO TN are related to Vincent HOBBS.

William Monk wrote his will February 19, 1834 and probated March 3, 183 4 in Russell County, Virginia. His heirs were; wife Fanny; children Shad rick, William, Sallie, Polly, Betsy, Bettie, Charles H. and John. Charle s H. Monk (son) was the executor. Witnesses were; Joseph R. Fields and J ohn Browning. I assume this is our Shadrack. My 3rd great-grandparents w ere Joseph Riddle and Rhoda Monk.

As far as the Riddl es are concerned, in Company E: Lt. Abijah C. Riddle, Farrier James M. R iddle, and Pvt's Joseph F. and Arthur J. Riddle. I do not see any Bond's listed for any Company in the 5th. There is a Liewllyn Bond listed in t he roster of the 13th KY Cav. Co. F. which was recruited from same area. This might be your Elzy Bond. Some of my Smith's and Mackey's were in t he same unit. You should be able to send for pension records with that i nfo. Good luck! Beckie

From a Declaration For Original Invalid Pension dated March 24, 1902
Elzia Bond, who was enrolled on the 4th day of October 1861 in the Comp any E of the 5th Regiment of The Kentucky Cavalry, commanded by John A.P . Flores and was honorably discharged at Nashville, TN on the 24th day o f January 1864. That his personal description is as follows: Age 22, Hei ght 5 feet 6 inches, Complexion dark, Hair dark, Eyes blue.
That while a member of the organization aforesaid in the service and in the line of his duty at or near Augusta in the State of Georgia, on or about the 17th day of February, 1865, he was seriously injured in the le ft breast and shoulder which resulted in rheumatism in the shoulders in limbs, that he was in Sherman's Raid and helping to destroy the Confeder ate Rail Road to cut off their re-enforcement.

That he was treated in hospitals as follows: at Columbia, TN for mumps in 1862 and at Nashville, TN in 1863 for chills and fever, and was near no hospital when he was infirmed.

That he re-enlisted in Company E. 5th Regiment Kentucky Cavalry, Januar y 25th 1864 and served to August 7th 1865 at the rank of Corporal.

birthdate error was a typo. The Bond info I got from a Riddle's Unravel ed
genealogy piece from the library in Cumberland Co. KY. Elzie/Elza Bond
married Laranie/Luriana Jane Riddle in 1862. I did not do the personal

My great Grandfather name was Wolford Wilburn Riddle. He died August 19 ,1940. He was married to a Caroline Fances Johnson. Supposedly Wolford's father name was Foutain Riddle.
