You arrive at Reading at Caversham. The A329 ends at a T-Junction. Turn right here and stay in the left hand lane as you cross the River Thames (tell any passengers to guess the number of swans). At the Roundabout go straight ahead into Caversham Road. Watch out for parked cars of people picking up takeaways (best takeway street in Reading – The Dali Lama is a frequent visitor). At the next roundabout turn left into Vastern Road. Get into the right hand lane when safe and turn right at the next roundabout and go under the bridge. Turn left at the next roundabout, stay in the right hand lane, and watch out for St James Catholic church on your right, followed by Reading Jail (former home of Oscar Wilde). Turn right at the next roundabout, staying in the right hand lane, and turn left at the traffic lights (passing Prudential offices) into Kings Road. Turn right at the next traffic lights (not the previous slip road without traffic lights) into Eldon Road. At the end of Eldon Road go straight ahead. Turn left at the first roundabout into Erleigh Road – Reading Boys School is on your right. At the crossroads go straight ahead. You pass a church and some shops – turn left into Junction Road just after the shops finish. Carnarvon Road is the first left turn and 84 is the first one, on the corner.
