2004 Progress # 9
10/2/04 - 68 License Plates Found and Purchased In Texas we are allowed to register this car under a special "Antique" plate. This type of registration allows for the registration of classic license plates, meaning old ones, which is great! In our estimation the only plates that belong on our Coronet are original 68 TEXAS plates. For the last 2 months RHMIII and RHM Jr. have been tryng to find a pair. In Texas, a pair is mandatory. This has been quite a challenge. We have found single plates from 1968, but coming up with both plates matching and in good condition has been a real trick. At the MOPAR show RHM JR was very lucky in finding a MATCHING, NEVER ISSUED, set of 1968 TEXAS HEMISFAIR license plates. They are spotless, still in original wrapping and will add perfect antiquity to our car.
10/6//04 - Cleaning Up the Windshields RHM Jr. took home the two rear windows that came with our car and cleaned them up.

10-13-04 Masking the Engine Bay & Steering Column is Removed The previously painted portions of the car have been sealed off in preparation for painting the rest of the body as shown below. Additionally the steering column, steering wheel, and shift indicator have been removed. RHMJr has some work to do on the steering column wiring harness. He will cut a few wires so that the column shift indicator bezel can be removed from the harness. Once cut and removed, he will install snap together fasteners on each wire so that the harness can be made operational again. More pictures of the steering wheel, column and harness restoration to come.
